Any country music fans ever heard of a guy named Chris ledoux?

A buddy of mine played a couple of songs by him. It's old stuff Never heard of the dude but it wasn't half bad.

Yeah. He was a huge influence for people like Garth brooks and wrote some great songs.
Died in 2005.

He was a rodeo cowboy, bronc rider to be specific. He sang cowboy and western music. He was well regarded in the rodeo circuit, and he had some mainstream success in the 1990s.
I really liked a lot of his stuff.

He did a ton of self produced, self recorded albums that he sold at his shows on the rodeo circuit back in the 70s and 80s. He recorded Amarillo by Moring before Strait did. Not sure how easy those are to find these days.
Check out his Cowboy album from 2000 - after he got to be well known, he went back in the studio and re-did a lot of his older rodeo songs.
Other good albums that are probably easy to find are Western Underground, Whatcha Gonna Do with a Cowboy, Haywire, and Horsepower.

Hooked on an 8 Second Ride is up there with This Cowboy's Hat as his greatest. Might be the best rodeo song there is.
