I'm a huge fan of his good ones. Not many songs better than Burn One Down and Nothing's News

This is a guy whose music I do not have much of in my rotation, but Burn One Down, A Better Man and Walkin Away are among some of my favorites. He was a hit making machine in the 90's.

To me, he and Brooks & Dunn represents the tail end of what I consider quality country music. He was at the end of an era that saw a transition from the old guard to this overly produced bro country garbage of today.

Black, Strait, Jackson,Tippin, Chestnut, Tritt, The Judds, Whitley, Yoakum, Brooks, Diffie, Reba, Sawyer Brown, Randy Travis etc. were a great generation of country singers. They wrote great stories into their songs.

Black is still my favorite of the era. "Loving Blind" is one of the best of all time. "State of Mind" is not far behind.

In 2006, my wife and I took a weekend trip to Brasstown Valley Resort. When we checked in I asked the desk if anything was going on that weekend at the Georgia Mountain Fairground closely and she told me Black was performing that night. I called the ticket office and bought two tickets on the phone and drove over to pick them up. They had screwed up because they realized the two were not together. Girl reached in a desk and gave me two together that were supposed to go to a vendor of theirs but who had called and said they were not coming earlier in the day. Front row....dead center.
One of the most enjoyable surprises I have had at a show.

Tippin

Tip was a solid 90's country contributor. I bet he laughs at these clowns making "music" today.
