1984 was a great, great year. I just can't believe someone listed a Don Henley album as the reason why. On top of the albums listed in the OP...
Judas Priest - Defenders of the Faith
Run DMC - S/T
Minor Threat - S/T
The Smiths - S/T
Black Flag - My War (their best album)
REM - Reckoning
Roger Waters - The Pros and Cons of hitch-hiking
Metallica - Ride the Lightning
Husker Du - Zen Arcade
Red Hot Chili Peppers - S/T
Iron Maiden - Powerslave
U2 - the Unforgettable Fire
The Replacements - Let It Be
Talking Heads - Stop Making Sense
Madonna - Like a Virgin
The Vandals - When In Rome, Do As the Vandals Do
Minutemen - Politics of Time
Minutemen - Double Nickels on the Dime
A great f'n year. Maybe my favorite ever. Double Nickels is probably my favorite album ever, so I'm biased.

Someone should be the Frozen of this board and create a "By year: 50 albums we can all agree don't suck" thread and cover '65-present (or somewhere around there). I think most people on this board would discover some really great bands & albums that way.
eta: or 20. I've listened to a lot of great albums just off the 3 or 4 we've had that I most likely wouldn't have listened to on my own

Yes
I believe many have been already mentioned with The Minutemen's DNOTD being the greatest album of all time, much less '84..
A few others I dont think are mentioned...
The Pogues - Red Roses for Me
Hoodoo Gurus - Stoneage Romeos
Meat Puppets - Meat Puppets II
Talk Talk - It’s My Life
The Pretenders - Learning to Crawl
This Mortal Coil - It’ll End in Tears
Black Flag - Slip It In’
The Gun Club - The Las Vegas Story
The Go-Betweens - Spring Hill Fair
Let’s Active - Cypress
The dB’s - Like This
Guadalcanal Diary - Walking in the Shadow of the Big Man
Butthole Surfers - Psychic… Powerless… Another Man’s Sac

These
Man, the Meat Puppets II came out that year? Geez, what a year for SST.
Black Flag's best album, two Minutemen albums including perhaps the greatest punk album ever, Husker Du's best album, and the Meat Puppets' best album. They laid the wood in 84.
Man, SST fell hard and fast. By 1989, the label was pretty much a relic. That's after practically inventing American hardcore along with Dischord.
