NO, I'm not really very good. I was pretty much a strum/rhythm player like you. I haven't played much for a long time. My BIL and my nephews in BR played professionally and I used to sit in with them. The 12 provided such a good fill-in background that my 2 nephews were free to cut loose on the lead parts. Lots of fun playing with them especially when we would vacation in Pcola Beach.

It's next on my list. Can't wait.

I assume I'll play it constantly. Of course, the one I want is $1200 the one I get will probably be half thst

Man I couldn't be happier with this one,and I got it at yard sale price,it looks a bit beat up,because it has had the hell played out of it for 50 years. That's the way it is with the good ones.I just did some minimal tweaking on it. I believe it will still be just as good 50 years from now.

It's a Yamaha FG-230 red label,I am guessing probably 1968,I don't think you can find a better sounding guitar.

I have seen a handful of others for sale online, for around 300 bucks. It's not a Martin, but I don't think you could go wrong. I have been at home for a week, and I bet I have this thing in my hands for about 80 hours of that time. I just can't help going over and picking it up,and I have a house full of guitars.

Just finished an hour playing my Taylor 12-string. 7 or 8 originals plus John Riley, Sloop John B and Satisfied Mind.

Love me some 12-string!

356e. Oh yeah, the ring-and-chime harp sound is awesome, great projection, sustain, everything.

The neck is I believe 1/16-inch thinner than my Seagull 12-string, but it seems thinner than that. It's beautifully playable, even for longer stretches, and my hands are tiny.

You can really get lost in that heavenly sound, it takes you up and away. Which applies I'm sure to just about any 12-string you happen to enjoy playing.

But I'm a Taylor guy, so ....

Anyway, welcome to the 12-string club and enjoy your Yamaha!

yeah, the Yamaha has a more booming tone, compared to what I expect a Taylor would have.

My wife likes to give our guitars nicknames, she calls The Yamaha Thunder and rain.
