A reboot of the diminishing mutant movie series is in the works as Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine heads for retirement and a studio's $4 billion franchise sits in flux.
With the summer release of X-Men: Apocalypse behind it and a Deadpool sequel hitting a speed bump, 20th Century Fox is finding its superhero franchise at another type of X: a crossroads.

Elsewhere, the reset button has been pressed. Sources say the flagship series will be reconfigured, with Simon Kinberg, overseer of the franchise as producer and writer, working on a new script. Singer, who directed four X-Men movies, will not be returning, according to insiders, but the script is being written with Lawrence, Fassbender and McAvoy optimistically in mind.

I wonder if they'll still do X-Force? Might be weird to have them both going at the same time.

Waiting for the cries of despair when they announce that Wolverine will be on the new charter squad.

As long as they do Cable I'm good. Bring it on.

A decent Gamble wouldn't hurt either. My two favs btw.

The X Men franchise has a worse continuum than the freakin' Highlander movies.

Why would they reboot the XMen reboot w/the same actors? Are they throwing out all of First Class-Apocalypse or is this simply a sequel to Apocalypse that essentially retreads the events of X-X3?

If I were them I would just let X-Men sit tight for a while and then bring it back down the road.

Give it a few years then come back and do it right.

If you're going to reboot, why cast Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique again? Why does Mystique have to be integral? Why not cast a good Storm as the female lead, or you know, one who's actually been with the Xmen?

Also, hope they get Cyclops right this time.

Not going to happen. I smell this either going route of New/Young characters or a Wolverine focus again. It's all they can think to do.

Comic book movies cause all the bad things in the world.

If only they stop forcing everyone to see them. They should make movies that aren't about super heroes.
