Would you be hyper critical or would you watch it to see how they spin this generations views on to it?

I think I would see it, as long as Alan Alda had no input on it. Reason I state this, it became his "baby" in the series, so I believe he would want some input. As he could not get away from it.

Also I would love to know how they rename Spearchucker.

Yes. With an all female multi-ethnic cast.

God, no! Shows like MASH were perfect as they are/were.

There is no possible way Hollywood could remake them and do any justice if not outright screwing it all up.

We need a few M*A*S*H series:

M*A*S*H: Iraq
M*A*S*H: Vietnam
M*A*S*H: Special Victims Unit

No, the movie was perfect in the way it followed the source material from the novel..

China Beach was the network trying to re-do the television series.

They'd probably just change that storyline to a quiz bowl... and cast Leslie Jones.

"Hot Lips" would have to be changed to "Pleasant Non-Sexy Friend," or just made to be a man with an equally objectifying nickname.

I don't think the OP realizes the series was based on a movie. He is talking about turning the t.v. series into a movie, which has already been done.

Loved the movie & tv shows. At the end, Alda started bringing in his anti war message too strong but the shows themselves were still great. AMC is now running an hour's worth of shows pretty regularly now.

It wasn't that good in the first place. Movie or TV show.

The first three seasons of the TV show are perhaps the greatest run any sitcom ever had

No I know the movie with Sutherland came out first. I made the Alda comment as I believe he would try to influence any remake as the series became his and many now do not associate the movie and series.

If you read the title of the thread I have movie clearly in the title, suggesting I know the movie was first.

What would be the point? MASH means nothing to the younger audience, many of whom dismiss its style of comedy as "Set 'em up, knock 'em down" and prefer the "quirky", "observational" style of The Office, Scrubs, Always Sunny, etc...

And even if they could use that style of comedy, what would they satirize? The film lampooned the sacred cows of its day: religion, flagwaving, warmongering, bureaucracy, etc... No filmmakers would dare attack the sacred cows of today: race, feminism, and homosexuality

Considering the yank-offs who would likely star in it, no.

No. Because Hollywood would just screw it up like they did Ghostbusters.
