As much as we hate those movies, many younger millennials and the even younger kids like them, because it's the Star Wars they grew up with.

Somebody mentioned questions about protagonists... to me, that is missing the point. Star Wars has a historical feel to it, like a fictional counterpart to the European part of WW2. That backdrop is the centerpiece, and as long as they maintain it, almost any story will fit within. I'd rather we see more war stories, than individual stories (especially, let's explore a non-Skywalker segment more).

Who was the protagonist in IV? Luke

Who was the protagonist in V? Luke

Who was the protagonist in VI? Luke

It was consistent and relatable - hence why the OT is so good. Yes, the larger conflict was the backdrop (not the centerpiece) but the narrative of the OT was a very small story about destiny and redemption with a limited amount of well-developed characters.

On the other hand, in the PT, Lucas attempts to tell this massive, complex story where many things don't add up. He focuses on world-building instead of character-building and what we get are wooden, undeveloped characters whose motives can't be deciphered from their actions in front of the backdrop of conflict where little makes sense and nothing truly is at stake.

I dont think remakes are a good idea. Maybe a couple standalones about just Vader could make up for some of the missed opportunities. Rogue one just kinda scratched the surface on the many things they can still do with him.

Vader and Emperor movie going through history of Sith to discover Plageus secrets would be phenomenal. Could have video game sith dudes. Maybe maul. There is a big appetite for that. So simple.

Look, if that's your focus, good. I'm not that rigid. Besides, in my opinion, Empire (Episode 5) is more about Han and Leia... at least, the interesting parts TO ME. If you forced me to pick and choose, I would keep their parts, and drop Luke's.
I guess that's like LOTR Twin Towers, if I had to choose one side only, I would stay with Aragorn etc and skip Frodo's, even though Frodo is the "main character". Just more interesting to me.

I guess that's a lot of why I preferred Rogue One over the prequels and even TFA- I'm more into the galactic adventure, and less about the Force.

The stories aren't interesting.

I guess Lucas had a stroke of genius when he started the franchise where he did with A New Hope.

All the backstories basically suck. Trade wars, wooden jedis...stupid villains with Halloween paint on their faces and acrobats as actors with ridiculous CGI. It's all a farce.

The acting is terrible because the story is terrible. Lucas wrote terrible stories for the prequels and then realized they were terrible and decided to raise the CGI-level to ludicrous speed.

No.

1. Give us Vader in his prime/fury hunting down the remaining jedi that were warned by Obi-wan and Yoda's signal.

2. The Old Republic- Give us Darth Revan/Malak/Malgus/Bane

It was ridiculous. For example Yoda should have never used a light saber. His ability to use the force should have made that useless to him. In Episode 4 he points out that size does not matter. But now that he's given a mini saber proportional to his size, he now has to jump around to compensate for his size.

And heavy CGI was a primary factor in the wooden acting. Funny how Obi Wan is just standing there like General Grievous isn't really there. Probably because he isn't.

They were acting the way because there were hardly any real props around when giving their lines. McGregor is on the record as having admitted nearly as much.

Compare that to this studio shot from TFA (post CGI included)

His conflict is he doesn't see eye to eye with the Jedi. Jyn died in Rogue One. Just because he died doesn't mean he's not a protagonist.

I wish the movie industry would start creating new shite rather than just rehashing old movies to make a quick buck.
