You guys are screwing up the movies from the period...it also felt like:

Poltergeist
Firestarter
The Fury
Scanners
Mazes and Monsters
Nightbreed

And whole bunch more than just Goonies and ET

When does the show get good? My wife and I watched the first 2 episodes tonight, and it hasn't hooked us yet.

Yeah I mean you'll be on edge but it still is a quality show in terms of plot/intrigue.

Watched 4 episodes last night...then went to the Internet to find out what happens the rest of the series. Sorry, but I couldn't take the extremely slow pace at which the show trickled in information about just what the hell was going on. If I get halfway into a show and still have almost zero idea why things are happening...I'm out.

The show itself was fine, very tense, very suspenseful, very well done, but the story development was just too slow, I think they put more emphasis on scaring the audience than the pacing. if this were a 4 or 5 episode show it would've been fantastic.

I like the sheriff. Dude just punches people. Reminded me of the Indian jones type humor or old movies where a the bad guys are just stupid

This is what I'm worried about. 2 episodes in, and I'm not scared or spooked. Just bored, and wondering why this show caught on with so many people.

I don't care for the horror genre at all

The show is not really a horror show. I don't like horror at all and loved the show.

80s slasher films, chainsaw massacre, saw… non of it.

It is nothing at all like any of those.

I am an 80s kid and love The Goonies, E.T., etc plus I like Lost and mystery/thrillers.

This show is all you.

I find this to be an odd statement because I didn't find the show very scary at all.

Here's a tip: Different strokes. I would just stop worrying about what other people found interesting and move on. No need to bore yourself with something. And no need to think about other people and their relation to something. Not worth the time or effort, honestly.

My wife hates horror films of all sorts and loved this show. It's the good kind of horror in that it doesn't just look to scare you or gross you out. It focuses on a good story to pull you in and a creepy tone and feel to keep you on edge.
