Midnight in Paris
This movie gets a lot of praise, and I liked it. I think it has some pretty poignant takes on nostalgia.
But Rachel Mcfrickme and her entire family had zero redeeming qualities. They were just shite people and I saw no rational for how her and Owen Wilson's characters got together.

I agree to an extent. Her acting in that kinda sucked balls - I think she was allowed to wing it and she did a horrible job.

Match Point is a film where I did not see that movie unfolding in that manner at all. It was such a shock.

After his daughter wrote about his abuse of her, i just can't stomach his movies. And that fact that his son is clearly the spitting image of frank Sinatra makes his movie much weirder.
Am I missing more to this story?
From wiki:
quote:
Dylan said that the abuse took place in the attic. In 2014, Dylan's older brother, Moses, denied that abuse in the attic was possible, saying that there were several people present in the house during Allen's entire visit and "no one, not my father or sister, was off in any private spaces".[161]
quote:
In February 2014, Dylan Farrow repeated the allegation in an open letter published by Nicholas Kristof, one of Farrow's friends,[166] in his New York Times blog. She alleged that Allen had treated her in a way that made her physically uncomfortable "for as long as [she] could remember", citing occasions when he got in bed with her in his underwear.[160] Allen again repeated his denial of the allegation, calling them "untrue and disgraceful", and followed with his own response in The New York Times.[167][168] Dylan's brother, Moses, currently a family therapist, told People magazine, "Of course Woody did not molest my sister... She loved him and looked forward to seeing him when he would visit." He claimed that their mother had manipulated her children into hating Allen as "a vengeful way to pay him back for falling in love with Soon-Yi."[169][170] Dylan denies she was ever coached by her mother and stands by her allegations. Several of Farrow's other children have spoken out in support of Dylan. [169]
The allegations just seem strange to me.
Then again his marriage is strange as hell too.

quote:
The doctor who headed the Connecticut investigation into whether Woody Allen molested his 7-year-old daughter, Dylan, theorized that the child either invented the story under the stress of living in a volatile and unhealthy home or that it was planted in her mind by her mother, Mia Farrow, a sworn statement released yesterday says.
quote:
The doctor suggested a connection between Miss Farrow's outrage over Mr. Allen's affair with her adopted daughter, Soon-Yi Farrow Previn, and the accusation made by Dylan, who he said was unusually protective of her mother. "It's quite possible -- as a matter of fact, we think it's medically probable -- that she stuck to that story over time because of the intense relationship she had with her mother," he said.
Original Investigation
quote:
Investigators at Yale-New Haven Hospital, who were brought into the case by the Connecticut state police, concluded that Dylan had not been molested, sources on both sides of the dispute said. Ms. Farrow's lawyer, Eleanor B. Alter, has dismissed the report, which has not been made public, as "incomplete and inaccurate."

And here is the part that makes me really doubt it:
quote:
She took Dylan to a doctor the same day the videotape was made, Ms. Farrow recalled. "I think she said he touched her, but when asked where, she just looked around and went like this," she said, patting her shoulder.
quote:
Four days later, Ms. Farrow took Dylan to another doctor. "There was no evidence of injury to the anal or vaginal area, is that correct?" Mr. Abramowitz asked. "Yes," she said.
Nanny Casts Doubt on Farrow Charges : Custody: She tells Allen's lawyers the actress pressured her to support molestation accusations against him. She says others have reservations.

Yeah, I don't believe Mia or Dylan for a second. There is zero evidence to support their claims.

Unfortunately the entire household was so batshit crazy that any allegations have to be scrutinized beyond the norm.
This isn't a Polanski situation where the facts are known and all parties are pretty much on the same page as to what happened. This is a weird guy and his crazy wife who had shared children, children adopted by one person in the relationship, and children who were born between them but who were probably sired by the woman's ex-husband, and one partner's adopted child who grew up to marry the other partner.
This isn't he-said/she-said. It's nutjob said/nutjob said.

Saw Annie Hall before I really knew much about Woody Allen. I liked it, thought it was clever and somewhat unique at the time.
I also liked what little I saw of Hannah and her Sisters. Haven't seen any of his other movies.

Agreed. Allen's films are hit and miss for me, but I really love Crimes and Misdemeanors. Perfect for a cold night.
