I knew both would stink when they were announced. I watched about 5 minutes of Batman v superman and it bore that out. Have no interest in WW. I question why these movies are even being made.

Two words: Non-compete clause

Jaime Alexander is Sif in both the Marvel films and TV shows (she has appeared in Agents of SHIELD twice now as Sif).

Her contract explicitly states that as long as she plays that character she is not to appear in any movie or TV show based off of a DC Comics property.

You know who else has a similar non-compete clause in their contract?

Good point. I should have thought of that. After all, I'm kinda convinced one of the reasons Marvel hired Benedict Cumberbatch to play Doctor Strange was to keep him from putting on a motion capture suit to play Darkseid in Justice League II or Brainiac in Man of Steel II.

Which one did Chris Evans and/or Michael B. Jordan appear in?

The Losers.

Also... Green Goblin and J. Jonah Jameson are in Justice League (and Aquaman and The Batman). Daredevil is Batman. Catwoman is Storm. Two-Face was Captain America's CO. Jane Foster was in V for Vendetta, Captain Cold was Dracula in Blade Trinity... and on and on.

BTW, if Evans has a non-compete clause, it must be specific to "no DC Superhero Films". Because (besides being in Scott Pilgrim and Losers when he signed up for Captain America) he was in Snowpiercer, which was based on a comic.

Sony Pictures, not Marvel Studios

quote:

Daredevil is Batman.

Fox, not Marvel Studios. Daredevil didn't revert to Marvel until 2011.

quote:

Catwoman is Storm.

Fox, not Marvel Studios

quote:

Two-Face was Captain America's CO.

The only one even remotely close, but that was also their second Harvey Dent and was not considered a DC film

quote:

Jane Foster was in V for Vendetta

Vertigo, not DC. Before the merge

quote:

Captain Cold was Dracula in Blade Trinity... and on and on.

Wentworth Miller did not play Dracula. Dominic Purcell (Heat Wave) did, and Blade was New Line until 2011.

Technically not even Ryan Reynolds qualifies as Blade was a New Line property in 2004 and Deadpool is Fox.

Let's recap:

X-Men, Fantastic Four, and all things related = Fox

Daredevil, Elektra, et al = Fox until 2011

Punisher = Lionsgate until 2011 (Ray Stevenson played Frank Castle in 2008 and is now Volstagg in the Marvel films, Rebecca Romijn played Mystique and Joan the Mouse)

Blade = New Line until 2011

Ghost Rider = Sony until 2014

Spider-Man = Sony until 2015, when it became a joint Sony/Marvel property.

Yes, Michael Keaton played the first modern movie Batman and is now playing Adrian Cooms/Vulture

Let's recap:

Kenneth Choi was a Howlin' Commando in Captain America: The First Avenger and on Agents of SHEILD and he killed Katana's husband in Suicide Squad.

Not film to film, but Dum Dum Dugan is big in the DCU TV universe now as well.

I don't see why people would be surprised at this. At this point, it seems clear that their strong point is the people who make their trailers.

We'll see I didn't completely hate BvS, but DC/WB seem like the sports team that refuses to blow the whole team up when they really should.

At this point, they are Les Miles/Cam Cameron and they are telling everyone not to worry about the offense because this time it will better.

That's so ridiculous
So you think DC movies over the last 10 years are comparable to Marvel movies?

Seriously?

quote:

DCs problem is the movies haven't been very good.
Which is exactly my point

If JL were to turn out great (I know, huge "if") it easily makes 1.1-1.3 billion.
If JL is AMAZING, it would make about as much as Avengers. And it would have to be as good as TDK or Superman 2 to warrant that kind of take.

It won't be.

I don't know,

Everyone thought that putting Batman and Superman in a film together would easily walk it's way into the billion dollar club.

Now the bloom is off the rose.

The obvious problem is Wonder Woman's inability to smell crime and lack of full penetration; add those two things and you are gold baby:

Crime Smelling

Done you say? They have like 8 more movies lined up. They just announced the Green Lantern Corps.

Yeah, written by David Goyer, so you can guarantee that one is going to totally suck.

The wonder was how those considerable breasts fit in that constricting top. Loved the old Wonder Woman.
