I agree. i think Dany has to go through Valyria and Asshai to complete she and Tyrion's knowledge of what to do. Plus i think that Tyrion gets his family sword back there and ends up killing Cersei with it or might present it to the reformed Jaime.

I don't see how she'd have time to do both, or why she'd go to Valyria unless she had no other choice, which is why I think she goes to Valyria.

Prophesies are misleading. I don't think this is literal, and if it is its just to get her Dothraki hoard.

Vaes Dothrak is due north, not east. It does not align with the prophesy at all, especially when nearly every other part of it has already come to pass in damn near literal form. (The Mummer's Dragon, the pale mare, the smiling corpse at the head of a ship, the perfumed seneshal, ect)

Asshai is much more interesting being mysterious to me. I can't think of some overwhelming mystery about Asshai other than how old it is and its relationship to the Others, which can be answered through other means.

There seems to be some kind of crazy voodoo magic there that was key in defeating the others. There also seems to be some knowledge about greyscale.

And they've built up Valyria far more than they have Asshai. The Doom happened for some reason, and I think that will be answered in the books. I just don't think its a coincidence that the Lannister great sword is there and that Martin made sure there was a very large seaway going through Valyria. There's much to discover there for both Dany and Tyrion.

I can see where you are coming from with this. If this is what we get instead, I won't be too upset. I just really want to see the Jade Sea and Tyrion's redemptive arc through conquering his old home.

But looking at the map, Slaver's Bay is about as far from Asshai as it is from Casterly Rock.

There are multiple maps out, many different, showing the Jade Sea and the Eastern portions of Essos in different configurations like this one:

Dragonstone is the logical landing point for Dany, especially due to the mass amount of Dragonglass reserves the island has. Things will have come full circle with her landing at her birthplace.

While this is certainly true, I guess one has to wonder whether we want to see Tyrion return to his birthplace or Dany to hers. I like Tyrion better as a character, so I will ultimately side with him. However, there's nothing wrong with your way.

I am talking in the books, not the show. The show will gloss over anything that they learn and have a character show up to give it to them.

Look at my map. Sure it's north, but it's a bit more east than north if we're going to split hairs.

Well, lets say Dany proposes this to Jorah and Tyrion to sail to Asshai to get to Westeros. They'd say she's lost her mind. It would be almost certain death and take in the very least twice as long to get to Westeros. It would be something Euron would propose. I think they'd take their chances with Valyria over selling east of Asshai. Where would they get the supplies for such a journey?

And I find it more interesting to not know how that voodoo magic works.

I think that one is canon though and directly released by GRRM. I bought the maps, and that's the one that I posted.

Yeah, there are two books left where Dany has just been captured by the Dothraki. I don't see where she'll get the time to do this in the books and why she'd go to Valyria and sail to Asshai from there. No one has survived Valyria as far as she knows, so I don't see any reason she would go there unless she was forced to. If she sees Asshai as the viable option to get to Westeros, she won't go to Valyria.
