I think the problem is that people are comparing this to TWD. They wanted zombies right off the bat. Here we are getting the progression to that point. Once people get over their need for immediate gratification they can honestly review it.
^^^ this.

I enjoy it. The potential is there to see how characters change, grow or die as situation develops. Now, if the writers pull it off, we'll see.

Rick is and will always be the man though!

I like it so far, but I'd like to see a bit wider scope - it's a little too focused on too few people. I'd especially like to see more of the "official" take on what's going down, i.e. what is the government saying? All we're heard are a few very brief radio reports or whatever, then suddenly the military appears out of nowhere for head shots.

I've seen people come off of painkiller addiction. The actor is doing a good job with that potrayl. Yeah it's annoying, you know what else is annoying? Junkies. They think and talk like that. "Why does she need painkillers? She only had a severe infection and a broken foot and a deep puncture wound.. I have only snorted two Roxy's today, I need more mom. Or I will get bad headaches and itch a lot."

I think the show is picking up and it may be a better show than I think it is. But there's a lot to dislike about it so far.

I really dislike the druggie kid. I don't care how realistic it is, I don't want to see him on my TV. I don't care about any of the characters yet really...they could all die in the next episode and I wouldn't really care. They are covering the beginning without really covering the beginning. HOW did it spread so fast that there weren't reports on TV/radio before power was cut? The most interesting character to me was the fat kid at the school who seemed to know about the outbreak before anyone else (internet? I don't remember how) did and he's not on the show anymore.

I disagree. I think we are looking for some answers, and seeing little snippets in the background or from the POV of the mains, and it is not enough to satisfy some - so far anyway.

Also, the drug guy's (Travis?) ongoing side story is a bit deeper than many want to invest time in . . . it takes away from what they want to know about - and that is what is happening around LA, and why.

What exactly about the show do you think deserves high ratings? It is basically TWD without the only good parts of TWD (action/suspense). It is cheesy af. Terrible acting. Impossible to like these characters.

I wouldn't call him a puss. In his mind, these are just sick people who might get better.

The concept of them being dead is just starting to emerge.

Also hesitant to commit murder or kill neighbors. Just hasn't figured it out yet.

I suspect his transformation into a ruthless, family protecting zombie killer is a major plot line.

Exactly. Right now this world is full of Alexandrians. Just like those people learned at the end of the last TWD season, people like Travis are about to learn that it's a brave, harsh, new world. They'll learn it or die.

Just slow so far. I've enjoyed it.

I expect more fireworks later in the season.

I've has isses with benzos. Was clean for half a year but fricked up this week. It makes you selfish, all I can say. The not being able to sleep for a week, sick..weak..it blows.

Plus the seizures he is having could kill him.

I'm going to keep watching, but it lacks something. I hate the mom and the drug kid. Maybe that's part of my distaste for it.

Is this a movie?

Personally, I´d chalk it up to Walking Dead seeming like it´s been on since the fricking 1980s.

Travis can go ahead and get bit. How are we going to sympathize with a character who is not even mad or horrified after seeing his "sick" neighbor eat his dog?

I guess it's like Hershel locking his "sick" wife and others in the barn and feeding them live chickens. Still can't come to grips with it. Then the switch gets flipped for him. I think it will for Travis too.

Honestly I think this show would have done a lot better so far with another title.

"Fear the Walking Dead" is way too much of a callback to TWD. It comes with built in expectations from that alone. It literally has the original's title IN it's title.

Stupid move from AMC. Just think if the BB spinoff was called. "Jimmy McGill is Breaking Bad"

True and this storyline was part of the worst season of TWD. Not a coincidence.

This show is a slow build-up to all that, but to get there we have to go through the world-building that went on while Rick was in a coma.

I'm cool with this, but after the first few episodes I just felt like they were not pacing themselves right with only a 6-episode season. I would be down with a 16 episode slow burn ending with mass chaos, but I don't think you can realistically do that with only 6 hours of screen time.

I watched the first few, and am dvr'ing the rest. It already seemed to me like this season would end in a pretty disappointing unresolved fashion, so honestly Id rather wait and watch the rest right before season 2 starts.
