Why does Passengers get so much hate?

I really liked it. I thought it was a cool concept and Jennifer Lawrence is a smoke show. I thought it was a really good movie. Not an oscar winner, but still really good.

I dont think it really elicited that strong of an emotion either way

Because it was frankly boring.
I liked the premise.
They did nothing with it. This is one of those "prospectus movies" like in business...where the prospectus is the entire cow...and no milk is flowing from it.

I was hyped for it, I really was. I thought the idea was good and I went in w/ no spoilers.
Then I saw it.
SPOILERS
It was awful. You knew exactly what was going to happen the entire time. There was no chance J-Law was going to stay mad at him and there was zero chance she'd never find out what Chris Pratt did. It was honestly the most predictable film I've seen in some time.
Had Chris Pratt died at the end, instead of living, then maybe I feel different. It's not happily ever after like literally everyone figured would happen.

Because it was a chick flick marketed as an interesting sci-fi movie.

They should of had a kid, would have been like 30 and could have told their story.

It was just too poorly written. Things like the captain waking up at the exact moment they needed in order to save the ship.
That was pretty convenient for them. The problem was just lazy writing in my opinion.

The ending could have been so much better

I felt like Pratt tried, and this could have been his breakout dramatic role.
The studio just mailed it in.

He doesn't save the day by taking over the ship, but he has vital info on how to fix things and passcodes to get into restricted areas. All of which he provides after waking up at the exact do or die moment.

It was fair. Nothing memorable about it. JL is not a smoke show. Too moley. They did a good job of depicting how annoying and unintelligent automated systems can be.

I thought the whole premise of not be able to put yourself back to sleep was dumb. Out of all technological advancements on that ship and the builders never thought that might happen once?

1) Condemning someone to death and tricking them into loving you
2) See reason 1
Basically condoning its okay to trick and essentially kill someone because you are lonely and want to bone.
