Arthur Dayne
Barristan
Jaime
Sandor
Mountain
Robert
Oberyn
Brienne
Loras

I'd say Ned and Jon are about slightly above average by Westeros standards; not bad but not great.

As far as my Top 10 who were alive from the start of Book 1:

1) Jaime Lannister- It's between him and Barristan really. All the Mountain has going for him is his vicious size and strength, while in overall fighting abilities, Jaime is superior.
2) Barristan Selmy- Debatably better than Jaime, but old.
3) Robert Baratheon (Prime)- He was one hell of a fighter and massive as hell to boot.
4) The Mountain- Enough said
5) The Hound- A really vicious fighter who doesn't give a flying frick about anything but fire.
6) Mance Raydar- Not really seen in the show, but he spanks Jon like a red headed step child in the books.
7) Syrio Forrel- Maybe up to Jaime's caliber as far as raw swordsman skills are concerned, but I'm not sure how good of an actual warrior he is.
8) Oberyn Martell- Great and clever warrior, and dirty as frick. Makes Bronn look like a gentleman in comparrison.
9) Bronn- Close to Oberyn, but someone not as dirty.
10) Brienne of Tarth- Yes, she's beaten some people on the list, but it's been when they were weak. Brienne has only beaten Loras in a truly level fight.

HMs: Jorah Mormont, Loras Tyrell, Daario Naharis, Victarion Greyjoy, Khal Drogo, Qhoron Halfhand

To be fair to Oberyn though, he would have used the same strategy fighting Jaime as he did the Mountain.

What's that? Poison?

Typo. I meant "Wouldn't". He would have used a sword against Jaime, although granted laced with poison.

Frankenmountain.

Eta. I hope they do a little more with him other than have him just walk around in a helmet the rest of the series. Like show him/have the maester go into a little detail of what he did. But I won't hold my breath.

Drogo. Dude's huge, quick, skilled and experienced. Hell he probably beat guys as tough as many of the other candidates once a week or so without losing, while the others' fighting experience was limited to wars and skirmishes here and there and with mixed results.

People forget him because he died off so much earlier in the show.

Personally I think once the Others/White Walkers break through the Wall, the Mountain will go nuts, butcher half the court, and then join with the Others as one of them. Then in the Final Battle of the series, the Hound kills his brother perminantly with a flaming sword.

And, Dayne is nothing in the show compared to the legend in the books.

It has already started. He hasn't even been shown yet and I already know people are going to be mad at D&D for him going down too easily.

I'd have a top 4 going back to Battle of the Trident:

Dayne
Robert
Selmy
Jaime

Throw in some Targs and a Blackfyre if you go further.

The amount of fighting talent left in the world as of the present is pretty weak.

Brianne
Bronn
1 handed jamie
Zombie mountain
Dario
Jorah mormont
Grey worm
Loras (in jail)
Aliser Thorne
New Khal
Whatever greyjoy the show promotes
Sand snakes

Some people who may or may not be dead, that I won't go into

Ramsay
Tyrion has killed before (battle of blackwater)
Yara

A certain Lord from the Reach is going to wreck shite

Left off Tormund Giantsbane
