I can't tell if it'll be great, good, or terrible.

I mean...it's Cruise after all.

The producer who gave him the huge check.

Russell Crowe is playing Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde. This is the start of the Universal monsters shared universe. He just has a cameo in here.

At least the trailer confirms that he is going to run away from something.

Are they rebooting the mummy series or doing films based on the universal classic mummy with Boris Karloff?

The movie is set in modern times. Tom Cruise plays an American soldier in Iraq.

This time around it's the mummy of an evil Egyptian queen. This story has already been done with better actors in the 1980 film The Awakening.

It's supposed to be the first of many reboots of the classic monster movies.

Those movies were awesome until it was ruined by the fricking horrible CGI of the Rock as Scorpion King.
