Not really sure if there's any threads or not about this movie. But either way, I just wanted to tell you guys to do yourself a favor and please please PLEASE see this movie when you get the chance. This was honestly one of the best movies I have seen in a while. Plot was great, Miles Teller gave a great performance, and JK Simmons was 100% worthy of his Golden Globe win. Had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Just was an overall fantastic movie.

A simple search returned multiple threads.

It was one of the better new movies I've seen the last couple years. Fantastic performances from Simmons and Teller. I hope Simmons wins an Oscar, he definitely deserves it!

This is next on my list along with Nightcrawler. I've had both for a while, but little time.

Only movies I've had time to watch recently were Boyhood, Birdman, Grand Budapest and St Vincents.

I'm going to skip it. Honestly, no interest in anything whatsoever connected to music or see a movie where a big meanie is in charge trope. I work with people like jk Simmons character quite often and they fire and threaten young people in humiliating fashion leaving them in tears. Why the frick do I want to watch that in my entertainment?

Awesome. Will do.

I will probably binge watch some movies tomorrow and later this week.

On the list are:
Nightcrawler
Whiplash
American Sniper
The Imitation Game
The Theory of Everything

Any other suggestions or a re-order?

The best movie from last year and it's not even close. When you think of how powerful that movie was with basically just two actors and the music it's hard not to appreciate its greatness.

Let's see.

Nightcrawler

American Sniper

The Theory of Everything

So in my opinion I'd do

Nightcrawler
Whiplash (heard too much great stuff about it)
The Theory of Everything
American Sniper
The Imitation Game

It pisses me off that I got an email telling me whiplash was added to amazon streaming and then I go and look and it's not there.

It isn't nearly that simple, and that's part of the beauty of the film.

I thought it was good. Choppy in the narrative at times, but that's to be expected considering the scope of the filming.

It is definitely worth a watch - just for the fact that it was filmed over 10+ years. But besides that novelty, it has some very good comical moments and introspection. I personally thought Ethan Hawke was great in this.

I have no doubt and I have no doubt it's good. Just even the trailer reminded me of shite I do not want to think about. Dont get me wrong, I love striving for perfection and the drive to improve. I'm all for that. But I can't help but think about the time a dude told me he was putting in his report that I was sleeping because he wasn't happy with how I did. Or the times people have told their coworkers to go ahead and start looking for a new job because they're going to be fired and all the crying and all of that. I fundamentally disagree with that narrative. I've worked with some tough mother frickers who have dealt with some shite who are some of the sweetest people around. And they are kind people. No need to be a douche just to keep up appearances. And all of this over fricking music in this movie. No desire. Again, it's probably a really good movie but not for me.

It makes me so happy that Simmons is a lock and that it looks like the film will scoop up Adapted Screenplay, Editing, and has a chance at Sound Mixing.
