When did you know you liked Star Wars?

I remember the exact moment when watching Star Wars for the first time that I knew I was watching something special.
TIE Fighter Attack
The action, the music, the dialogue. I just remember being on the edge of my seat when I watched this back in 1994 as a 7-year-old.

I think I watched it for the first time before I was even in school. I got the unaltered versions of the original trilogy on VHS as a birthday present. I don't remember what made me love the franchise necessarily, but it has always been a part of my life.

The second the cruiser and star destroyer went by.

I saw it when i was 5 or 6 circa 1983. Our neighbors watched me after school until my mom got home from work. The mother worked at a video store and one wall in their living room was all vhs tapes. It was glorious.

Saw the first one in the theater in 1977. Do not remember the exact moment.

I've been a Star Wars fan as long as I can remember. It was a big part of my childhood growing up in the 80's.

When I was 4 and waited in a long arse line outside of a theater to see what was probably my first movie. I don't even remember watching the movie much, I just know everything from my toys to my bed sheets revolved around Star Wars after that.

I remember it like it was yesterday. I was 4 or 5, so 1981 time frame. We went to see it at the "Dollar Cinema" in Lafayette, next door to the Heyman Center.
Walked in and had my Nanny read me the text and I was hooked. I had been hearing about it so I was pumped going in.

I was a victim of merchandising, evidently. I loved Star Wars as a child even though I didn't see it. I was 5 when I saw ESB (my aunt took me to see a Disney show, but I was so excited about Empire, we watched it instead). I didn't see Star Wars until I begged a friend who had a VCR to record it off TV for me. That might have even been after I saw ROTJ.

When I was really really young and watched Spaceballs and knew every joke.
And then when I watched Star Wars and missed the clip of the stomach alien singing the Warner Bros. Frog Song. Hello my baby, Hello my honey
And then realizing that I knew Spaceballs more than Star Wars.
So I guess, I knew I loved Star Wars by loving a spoof as much?!

Liked it from the start. The opening scene was pretty impressive.
Saw it in the theater during its initial release. My friends and family saw it before me and were very impressed. I saw it through the eyes of a sci-fi fan and knew that it was a very basic take on the decades of fantasy and sci-fi novels that had come before. But it was really fun and worth seeing a second time (this time at a drive-in).
The reaction in pop culture was really fun. The mentions on TV and the songs on the radio. I didn't realize how big it was going to be until Return of the Jedi and people began to line up at the theaters in cosplay. Prior to that, the only major fan culture was for Star Trek. I was amazed that people became such huge fans after just two films.

First or second memory.

Kinda on topic, just started watching the original trilogy with my kid. We watched a new hope last weekend and we're doing empire tonight. He has no idea about Vader and Luke (what a fricking idiot). But I get to watch him see it for the first time tonight. Pretty stoked.

I got the VHS set for Christmas one year when I was maybe 4 or 5. Loved it immediately...I've always been a fan of space travel so those scenes amazed me and I remember thinking Vader was pure evil but one of my favorite characters in anything I'd seen

I didn't either. But I saw The Empire Strikes Back before the era of high speed internet and social media.
You should film his reaction.

5 mins after the opening credits

I saw Empire in the theatre as a 7 year old. Was amazed. Saw Star Wars soon after when it came in tv or on vcr, don't remember which one. Saw Jedi in theatre.
So I guess 7 was when I loved it.
