Just watched Red Dragon for the first time and I thought it was pretty good.
Red Dragon is the best. A legit 4 stars, IMO.

Going to watch the other two in the next few days.
You didn't watch Lambs first?

Did you guys like them?
Yes, although Hannibal is absurd.

Don't listen to any of the pro-Manhunter crowd. Manhunter is enjoyable only as an ironic walk through of 80's camp. It's borderline terrible.
Also, you haven't asked about the 4th one: Hannibal Rising. It's better than Hannibal, although it's preposterous overall.

I watched Manhunter and Red Dragon back to back recently with someone who had seen neither. We both felt like Red Dragon was better.
William Peterson and Brian Cox were great. Their acting skills aren't going to beat a movie with Phillip seymor Hoffman, Anthony Hopkins, Edward Norton, and Ralph Fines.
Dolyhyde was also much creepier in red dragon.
Manhunter was too much of an 80s movie. The one scene were it really worked out was the scene where they where analyzing the toilet paper. That was a great scene. But the finale in ms hunter was just dumb 80s cheese and not the good kind.

The anti-Manhunter crowd proves how dumb people are.

I dont get the love for Manhunter.
It seems like how people love PBR....they thinks its cool to like something that is terrible.

It's like people who love classic cars.
Sure, they aren't practical and lack a lot of the luxuries of modern vehicles, but there is a certain nostalgia and feeling you get when you sit in one.
I personally love Manhunter, but I understand the criticism people have for it when compared to the recent trilogy

silence of the lambs should have been the only one made

Red Dragon is freaking amazing. My favorite by far.

Let's clear it all up right here. Silence is a classic, thus the best of the bunch. This whole "Manhunter is GOAT" is retarded; it's the "let's beat up on the popular kid" syndrome. The fact is, Silence kills Manhunter.
With that said, Manhunter is the second best film of the 4. It is very good. The anti-Manhunter crowd are acting in the extreme opposite of the aforementioned Manhunter peeps, and they are spouting off equally retarded shite. It is a very good movie, and should be watched in place of Red Dragon.
1. SotL
2. Manhunter
3. Hannibal (good movie... I don't get the hate)
4. Red Dragon (found this very meh. maybe would've enjoyed it more if Manhunter never existed)

Silence is the best by far. I wanted Jodie Foster so bad back then it was embarrassing. Too bad she is a carpet muncher. I'd still curl those toes though.
Then Hannibal
Then Hannibal Rising
Then the SpongeBob Movie.
Then Manhunter. It sucks arse. Basically a Miami Vice episode written by Thomas Harris.

Red Dragon was my favorite by far didn't care for Silence of the Lambs or Hannibal. I won't even mention that terrible shite Hannibal Rising or whatever that garbage was.

Haha I forgot all about that. That was awesome thanks for reminding me of that crazy shite. I love how they parodied that in Scary Movie 2 with the Wayans brothers. I think they had Beetlejuice the midget doing this is you brain on drugs or some shite.

BOOKS:
Red Dragon
Hannibal
Silence of the Lambs (basically Red Dragon 2, and I know that's the point because it's the next one, but it is just Red Dragon with a little different character)
MOVIES:
Silence of the Lambs
Red Dragon
Hannibal
ETA and I knew this would turn into a Manhunter argument.

God I agree so much. Red Dragon is just such a better rendition of the story in every way imaginable. Manhunter has not aged well at all.
