She rose to prominence with her performance in Misery (1990), for which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress and Golden Globe Award for Best Actress.[2] She followed this with major roles in Fried Green Tomatoes (1991) and Dolores Claiborne (1995), before playing a featured role as Molly Brown in Titanic (1997)

Great actress. Seeing misery for the first time was quite an experience.

She's a master. Master Bates.

Nah, she's a good actress.

She's a great actress that somehow wound up in a terrible Chuck Lorre sitcom. The trailer for Disjointed on NetFlix looked worse that 2 Broke Girls. I was in the next room when my wife gave it a shot and it lived down to my expectations. Hopefully it doesn't get renewed so Bates can get back to real acting.

She's a good actress, but I couldn't make it past the opening scene of her new Netflix show.

A laugh track? Really? I just looked it up and I'm not even remotely surprised that Chuck Lorre is involved.

I'd do her.

While she's holding the knife from Misery.

And while she's calling me a dirty bird.

Cannot play with her. Cannot coach with her. Cannot win with her. Can't do it!

I watched the first 15 minutes. The laugh track was nonstop, but not one funny thing happened or was said. Very cringe.

I mainly remember her from Misery and the Waterboy. Two vastly different roles, and she nailed both of them. I think she is a great supporting actress for most of her career, but in the right role can carry a film in the lead.

Great actress, and evidently a pretty nice person.

A friend of mine lost his cell phone in New Orleans (left it in a store). Later that day he got a call on his home line from a woman named Kathy. She agreed to meet him to give his phone back--yep, it was Kathy Bates.
