would like to see more of his shorts filmed, esp The Long Walk and The Rage (though i doubt anyone will ever make that into a movie) ...

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I think that The Shining blows.

King actually really dislikes it, as well.

Storm of the Century is mine. I really don't know why I like it, I just do.

"The Langoliers"
I know that wasn't a great movie, but it's kind of a fun SyFy cult fan viewing.

I forgot about that story, probably my favorite story he wrote.

I just realized no one has mentioned "Carrie" yet. That was a great movie.

My vote is The Shining, which is funny because Stephen King hated it and was a pain in the arse. Kubrick changed the color of the family's VW bug to yellow:

but had this scene of a red VW (as was in the book) as a frick you, i'm changing your book nod to S. King:

Non-horror-

Shawshank of course. One of the 50 greatest films every made IMO.

HM - Stand By Me, The Green Mile, Apt Pupil

Horror-

The Mist (although the ending SUCCCCCCKKKKKKKED)

HM - Misery, The Shining

christine was a damn good flick

When that car pulled around the corner and you heard that oldies music jamming, u knew some one was f'd.

And some of the songs just made it creepier

I forgot about Storm of the Century, always one of my favorites. Colm Feore may have been the best casting choice in any King movie

Dolores Claiborne is often overlooked

This is a fact...I loved it, but Kathy Bates kicked so much cock-a-doodie arse in Misery, it's easy to let it slip by for some reason.

As for the worst, "The Running Man" has GOT to be way up there. Arnie's acting is just rock-bottom bad, and his one liners are even worse. The special FX looked to have been done by jr high kids. Seriously. It's bad.

It's real bad.

ETA: If the kid had died at the end, as he did in the book, Cujo would have been much better...that and get a dog that doesn't wag it's tail while trying to look menacing...
