I
Read the books. Lyanna was betrothed to Robert and Rhaegar was already married to Elia. They ran away together in secret. Robert found out and rather than admit that his girl ran off with another man, he claimed she was kidnapped and threatened war to win her back. Brandon Stark (Ned's older brother) demanded justice from Rhaegar and the return of his sister. Aerys (Mad King) had Brandon locked up and summoned Rickard (Ned's father) to King's Landing to ransom him. Instead, though, he captured Rickard as well and brutally executed both Rickard and Brandon. THAT is what truly set off the war.

would like to see something to explain why Rhaegar and Lyanna didn't tell anyone the truth before they started a war that got their family members killed.

Aegon Targaryen First of his Name-

The events leading up to Robert's rebellion would clarify so much for the current story. It's one of the things that I think holds the show/books back, but also propels it forward bc of the speculation around everything.

The doom of Valyria so we can see exactly how Valyrian Steel was made

I'd kinda like to see a day in the life of Ros at her peak.

The Doom would be crazy expensive to make

I wouldn't mind watching Cersi and Danny rub ice on each other's nipples.
Outside of that, the entirety of Robert's rebellion would be awesome. Starting with the presentation of the flowers by R to L infront of everyone.

The moment Hot Pie learned that browning the butter before making the dough is the secret to a good pie.

Am I getting my timeline confused?
I thought the rebellion started proper when Hoster Tully refused to hand over Ned and Robert to the crown and that's when banners were raised, Need got smuggled back North.

I'd like to see Aegon's conquest.
If you are looking for a more specific event, the siege and destruction of Harrenhall.

There is no way Arya would marry a person similar to Robert.
Which would be ironic if she ends up with Gendry.
Gendry seems to be different from Robert.

Which is why a lot of these prequels should be animated.

Tournament at Harrenhal/Robert's Rebellion or...
Aegon conquering Westeros.

It was Jon Arryn, not Lord Tulley. Tulley only joined their side after his daughters were married to the Lord of the North and the Lord of the Vale.

i'm in this camp. bobby b is a big a-hole post taking the throne, but in his eyes his love was kidnapped. Aerys killing Brandon and Rickard instead of a reasonable conversation lead to the war, not the kidnapping itself.
Kidnapping = Assasination of Archduke Ferdinand
killing the starks = Austria-Hungary invading

That's right, not enough coffee gets brain fricked up.
Jon Arryn was a hoss. Already ancient by their standards, told the king to frick off. Prosecuted a successful rebellion with his teenage unblooded wards. And went on for another decade and a half before poison did him in.
Probably shook his head about the Battle of the Bells.

I think that will be answered in WoW, if it's ever released. They've just built it up far too much in the books for us to not get an answer.
