I watched the series up to the first movie, maybe a little past that. I didn't watch the Coy and Vance Duke-like replacements. What do I need to know to catch up? Are their particular episodes I can watch on netflix to get up to speed and watch the monster of the week episodes later? It's been years, I don't remember much. Thanks.

I think this is a completely new storyline.

Ok. So, how do I find out what happened with the original story without reading about it or watching every episode? Did they ever finish it?

The whole series is on Netflix. Duchovny left after the fifth season but came back towards the end. You can skip everything after he left.

There will be three mythology episodes and 3 monster of the week.... From what Chris carter has said the mythology episodes are done in a way so that it will attract viewers who have never seen the series.. A few months back Carter said it's important to watch the pilot.. Season 1 episode 1....

He was in it through season seven and a lot of season eight, wasn't he?
