The Director's Cut for Watchmen was incredible, and while we never got an extended version of Man of Steel, it turns out that Zack Snyder has big plans for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The always reliable Stitch Kingdom has revealed this evening that an "Ultimate Edition" Blu-ray has been Rated-R for the reasons you can see in the Tweet below.

More violence is no bad thing, and I wouldn't mind betting that this version of the movie will be packed full of extra scenes featuring the Dark Knight brutally doling out justice to Gotham City's criminals! Of course, there's also every chance that the battle between the titular heroes will get even more vicious than the version we'll see in the upcoming theatrical release.

While you may think it's odd for a PG-13 summer blockbuster to get an R-Rated home video release, the same thing happened with the extended versions of The Hobbit movies, so this isn't exactly unheard of. It's pretty incredible news regardless, so stay tuned for more details as we have them. For now, let us know your thoughts in the usual place.

Superman featured in an R rated film is not something we should want.

At least me.

Exactly, who wanted to subject themselves to that more than once?

I did, but I have no idea what makes the extended version rated R.

The director's cut of Watchmen is much better than the original. Looking forward to both versions of BvS.

That's probably what Snyder pitched to WB.

So you think that Warner Bros. approached Snyder about an R rated director's cut, he edited said cut, had it approved by Warner Bros., and had it submitted to and approved by the MPAA within ten days?

WB Exec - Hey! This R rated super hero movie did really well! We need one of those.

WB Lackey - But sir, we don't have one that can be ready anytime soon!

WB Exec - What if we just add 4 minutes of alternate takes, scenes w/a couple of curse words, and some more CG blood to Superman vs Batman and sell it to them a second time as the Ultimate Edition?

WB Lackey - Don't you worry that it might cause some people to skip seeing it in theaters if they already know they aren't getting the full movie yet? Don't you think they will see this as a cynical cash grab? You don't think it might come off as forced and a little "me too me too"?

WB Exec - Oh come on, its a comic book movie! These idiots won't know the difference!

Exactly...not to mention the fact that this was filmed back in 2014.
