It felt odd when I came home and had no live television.

Oh well! I have 5 more episodes of Daredevil!

Who else has recently disconnected? How long ago? How have you managed?

No. The reason I have tv is for live events. I also dislike and don't trust streaming. And it makes background shows much harder to accomplish.

Cut the chord last April. Don't miss it a bit.

This plus being a big sports fan almost requires me to have cable/satellite service.

Did it last year because I was sick and tired of paying a $130 bill each month for cable and internet through Cox. I work a lot and seldom watch cable so I saw no need for it.

The funny thing is that Cox never disconnected our cable. Technically, we still have free cable a year after the fact. However, the recent transition to digital format for all channels has left us with only about four channels.

I don't give a shite either way. Netflix is available if I feel compelled to watch something, and if there is a big sporting event taking place I usually just hang out at a family member's house and watch the game there.

frick cable. frick it up the arse.

We disconnected about 2 years ago and have never missed it. We did it to put more money towards debt. We are almost out of debt now and haven't even considered adding cable back in. We got a $20 HD Antenna from Best Buy and it picks up enough good channels that there is something to watch. We do have the Netflix subscription and the in-laws gave us their HBO-Go log-in so that is more than enough to watch. I can't see us going back for a long while. The one thing I do miss is having the DVR but lucky for us we are not attached to any shows that aren't on HBO or Netflix. I like a few Network shows and I just wait and watch them when they come to Netflix.

I did last year, I got a Firestick for ESPN and I haven't looked back. Between my Prime and Netflix I've been more than content and always something worth watching.

Apparently there was a very large thread about cutting the cord on this board awhile back, but ive never been able to find it.

We aren't OT ballers by any stretch of the imagination but we can afford cable TV and internet thankfully; the alternatives in our area are not good options.

I missed the clock on the front of the cable box at first, but then I got a new clock.

I still think about it sometimes.

Bought mine was 29.99 during a special they had. Was a great deal at the time... watchespn app is a bit slower than live today but I've watched the majority of LSU baseball games, college football games, and ncaa games... nfl games I catch Monday night and Sunday night football. I just can't watch NBC and Fox games.

I cut the cord 3 weeks ago. We already had netflix and amazon and have added Hulu and my parents hbogo, espn,fx and foxnow. The end of football season is the easiest time for me to dump cable. The kids have rokus in their bedrooms and there are firesticks with kodi our bedroom and the living room.

Look, it's the "I say I've cut cable but I've actually resorted to just stealing it using other people's passwords" thread.

I did 3 years ago. I bought a desktop tower with hdmi and a wireless keyboard. Internet is hardwired to the tower. I can't think of a better option for cord cutters than this. It renders set top boxes useless. It's more upfront but works great.

The feeling will go away. I've been disconnected for about 6 months, and I don't really miss it, but I do have local channels, a WatchESPN account, Netflix, and Hulu.
