It’s finally “official”! Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara just took the stage at CinemaCon in Las Vegas and announced that a Ben Affleck solo Batman movie is in the works. He also spoke about the record-breaking opening weekend that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice had.

“It set up a great foundation for our DC slate, which includes at least 10 movies through 2020,” Tsuijhara said. “I’m also excited to know that we will be working with Ben Affleck on a stand-alone Batman movie.” You can check out a list of those 10 movies and their release dates here.

Ben Affleck and Amy Adams joined Tsujihara on stage to show footage from the DC Extended Universe. From reactions online, it sounds like it’s footage we’ve mostly seen before, though some of the stuff they showed from Wonder Woman might have been new.

Ben Affleck is co-writing his Batman movie with DC Comics CCO Geoff Johns. He’s expected to direct it as well, though Tsujihara did not explicitly confirm that tonight.

According to Umberto Gonzales, Ben Affleck and Geoff Johns will have COMPLETE creative control of the solo Batman film. Ben Affleck will be the new Nolan and Geoff Johns will be his consigliere. This is great news and it means that Snyder, Goyer, and everyone else involved in BvS will not be involved.

Wtf would Hollywood do today if they didn't have comic book characters?

Great news. I think most folks can agree affleck was a good batman even if they hated bvs. Hope it's ready by 2018.

I have faith this movie will be great, but hopefully DC actually has some great movies before it. Their track record with non-Batman movies has been horrid. I would like this movie to be a part of a larger narrative and that isn't likely if the DCMU is a giant flop.

Something tells me Ben is not too happy with the way things turned out with those guys.

I don't think he allows them anywhere near his movie.

Any indication when this will fall in the timeline? I think I would prefer to see him in his prime with Robin, rmeven a Death in the Family type story.

Nothing yet on timeline.

I know there has been a call for a Red Hood storyline. Hush has also been a popular request. Personally, I would LOVE to see a Mask of the Phantasm live action film. I would be fine with any of those, though.

I'll be happy as long as we get to see Martha and Thomas die again. I feel like we haven't seen enough origin story on batman yet.

With Affleck directing especially, that could be amazing

This is what I'm anticipating what with the older Bruce, dead Robin, and his/Joker's role in Suicide Squad

If BvS couldn't stop it, I doubt god would have much luck. Prepare for more DC.

Whatever it is will heavily involve the Joker. BvS dropped enough hints plus suicide squad setting up the Leto Joker and Harley quinn

Ben Affleck would go back to making movies like "Gone Baby Gone," "The Town," and "Argo?"

He just made a critical type movie called 'Live by Night'. He'll still make those kind of movies for you. Don't get upset, buddy.
