Watching other people play video games is a thing now?

I was just watching TBS and they were having a championship for some online game. Seemed like absolutely horrible TV, I was even more surprised to see a large crowd there for it. The frick is wrong with people ?

It's been a good major so far. The commentators did call the players athletes and we all know that's not true, but they are professionals.

E league is growing just as fast as MMA or UFC did. It brings in huge audiences, probably more viewers worldwide than most sports and brings in huge amounts of money.

It's the exact same thing. You are watching people play a game either way, and depending on the game it can take a tremendous amount of skill. Not just anybody can compete at a high level with some of these games.
It's pretty absurd that grown men sit around and watch young adults play a children's game. The only difference is that it has become socially normalized. You go back a couple hundred years and people would think you were just idling your time away.

Yeah, my TV guide said Hall Pass was on .... So I flipped to it and it was some terrible gaming show. Just terrible.

In 2011-12 I was #1 in the world with Vega in Super Street Fighter 4 on 360.
I was sent clothing and invited to events around the country. Doing that kind of shite isnt my thing these days, and since I have all but stopped playing and let that rank fall. But, had I been 18 or so I def would have went.
Could have had a free room, but not free airfare.
