Watching Friday Night Lights series for the 1st time

I don't know how the show goes but I already know that Tyra, Riggins, and Layla are in the same grade as Matt Saracen (sophomores).
I mean wtf that makes no sense, first off the likely hood of a stud D1 prospect senior QB dating a sophomore since she was in 8th grade is ridiculous.
Also the way Riggins, Tyra, and Layla act is not the way sophomores act. Tyra hooked up with a dude who was at least 21 probably older, Riggins also openly binge drinks in front of his brother and his coaches seem to know about it.
Also Saracen is clearly supposed to be younger than them

It makes perfect sense. When the show started, the writers hadn't considered that they couldn't keep the show going multiple seasons if all of the characters graduated from high school after the first season. So in the next seasons they made everyone except Saracen and Street younger so as to realistically keep the same characters in the show longer. Not hard to figure out. It was a writing frick up that they fixed as well as they could.
