How much of the movie is verified by the military as opposed to a story of Chris Kyle's?

The Hurt Locker was a much better Iraq movie IMO.

I agree.

This is one thing that sort of bugs me about AS. It's good, but nowhere near SPR. Like not even remotely close to being in the same vicinity. I get why they are compared, but IMO they shouldn't be at all, and it's a slight to SPR for it to be compared to AS.

SPR is a war movie (or just movie in general) that is on another level than American Sniper.

Upvote. I'm shocked when people make this comparison. American Sniper isn't even in the same universe as Saving Private Ryan.

I typically hate the expression, but it's the only one that describes my feelings for the movie; meh.

It felt like a bad play when he was holding the baby, so yeah it did take away from it.

Do a little more research on Chris Kyle.

People that routinely put themselves in dangerous situations are more likely to die in unusual circumstances than those who don't. See Steve Irwin, for example.

There's a very dedicated base on this board that think he's basically the antichrist. I presume volmanac is one.

That's a bit much,

Hell of a soldier, and there are plenty of other soldiers alive because of how skilled of a sniper Kyle was.

But I wouldn't describe the guy as good or honorable.

Yea its a pretty awesome movie about a real American hero. I've seen it 3 times now and still get a lump in my throat during the funeral procession scene at the end.

I with the good not great crowd. It probably shouldn't impact my opinion, but I was expecting the whole story line to be true, and I was kinda disappointed that it wasn't.

Question? How is this movie in comparison to others. Similar to Lone Survivor or maybe Hurt Locker. I didn't really get into Lone Survivor but more so Hurt Locker. I really dug the Matt Damon Iraq war movie, The Green zone.

I watched it on Saturday. Came in with low expectations but I thought it was outstanding. Didn't get the sense that it was full of propaganda like many claim it is.

Thought it was without a doubt a better movie than Birdman.

I couldn't even finish this and I was on a plane.

I'm really starting to hate Ed Norton.

It's a very good movie considering the story. But it's kind of "overrated" to me as far as movies go, perhaps because I have an expectation of a more traditional storyline in war/terrorism films. American Sniper is more of a war memoir made into a movie, and in that regard it was very successful.

They're all very different, but I think it is an inferior story to Lone Survivor, but a better film. It's inferior in both respects to ZDT (but obviously the subject matter is pretty distinct).

I'm open minded and enjoyed watching Birdman, but I definitely can't fault anyone who thought it sucked and was bizarre.
