Was anyone else disappointed with GoT's last episode "Home"? (Spoilers)

If you haven't seen the episode, don't read on.
I wouldn't have filmed the Jon Snow scene like that. The scene was too predictable. Hell, the entire episode was predictable the moment Davos asked Melisandre if she could resurrect Jon Snow. The episode made it abundantly clear that Jon would be soon resurrected. The Red Witch and everyone in the room acting like she failed was just too melodramatic because the viewers already assumed he was coming back.
I feel his resurrection was a wasted scene. Hell, the entire episode was full of wasted opportunities. Many scenes could've been filmed much better.
For example, if I was the filmmaker I wouldn't have filmed Jon Snow on the table with the eye opening reveal. Did anyone else realize that they stole that scene from the last scene in Avatar? It felt cheap and predictable.
I would've had Melisandre perform her ritual and seemingly fail (which by the way was another weak scene. She just muttered some words. She's a damn witch for Christ's sake! She's burned people at the stake, drank poison, birthed demons, but all she does during a resurrection is mutter a few words? Whatever.). I would've ended the episode with everyone walking out of the room in disappointment ensuring that the viewer believe that Snow was not in fact coming back to life.
In the next episode or maybe two episodes beyond the "Home" episode, I would've shown Thorne and his men in their jail cells. Suddenly a hooded figure appears in the middle of the night. The figure reveals himself to be Jon Snow and he exacts his revenge upon Thorne and everyone who stabbed him.
That method would've been a more effective reveal of Jon Snow's resurrection.
Or, perhaps an episode or two later Davos, the Red Witch, or any character walks into Jon Snow's room to discover him staring out a window or sitting next to the fire sharpening a sword.
We don't always have to see eyes popping open.
It's rather stupid if you think about it because it's an old overused movie trick. Like I said, James Cameron ended Avatar that way and you could see that coming from a mile away. The crappier horror films constantly use that movie technique.
It's cheesy. It's totally ineffective.
In my opinion, this is the kind of crap the audience can expect now that HBO has moved beyond the books. So far this season there have been several weak scenes that could've been filmed FAR better, and only a handful of strong scenes.

What episodes of an award winning show have you filmed in the past?

I'll wait and see how many downvotes you get before I make my judgement

So the entire episode became predictable in the episode's last eight minutes? Okay.

I thought they were going to turn the tables and Davos wold reluctantly say a prayer to the Lord of light and that would bring him back. Would have been a cool twist. Thoros had lost his faith before resurrecting Dondarrion. Davos, admitted he is not a religious man.

I agree. I think it was weak. Most people are so happy that Jon Snow is back that they ignore the missed opportunities.
I was disappointed.
Some of you are just downvoting because of the poster. Think about it objectively.
Statements like "how many award winning shows have you directed?" are juvenile.

This is the bookend to the earlier scene with Thoros, Dondarrion and Melisandre (which in no way happened in the books). I felt like they did an okay job with it. I mean, the Hodors don't know - for that matter, Jon's resurrection in the show IS source material for all practical purposes now, because the novels have not progressed the story to that point.
So, having said that - I'm okay with it, but I guess I have to reserve final judgment until I see what happens in the novels. Keep in mind that - in the novels - Davos is not at the wall. The Manderly/White Harbor scenes are deleted (Davos is the POV for those), as is Davos' mission to Skagos to find Rickon (because in the show, Rickon and Osha do not go to Skagos, but rather to be sheltered by the Umbers at Last Hearth - at least that's the destination ordered by Bran).

let me say that i honestly didn't even care about the jon snow stuff and i'm just glad that charade is over
the rest of the episode was pretty good to great, with the biggest issue being the 2 assassinations (just a lot of random for 1 ep. they could have split it up and set up the bolton one better).
the scenes were much more well written and shot than episode 1, and the tone was like older GOT

I completely agree with you. Thought it was weak that Davos is the one who has to convince Mel to do something.

True...but I can handle it.

Common with people who follow the crowd and who have no substance or independent thought.

You typed out a lot of words to say the same thing in each paragraph.
