Can anyone suggest a good remote control that will enable me to set the remote for different devices. Not the normal press aux for Receiver, cable for cable box, etc.
I want something I can program the remote to use different devices. ex.

Adjust sound from my receiver
Change channels and menu from my cable box
Bring up TV menu from TV.
Power all up and down with 1 button

all without having to switch between the devices.

I think a Harmony remote is what you're looking for. There are some $30-$40 variations of the big boys that still do the job from what I've heard. Don't own one myself, but have definitely looked.

Also I would like to add I came here in hopes it was about the gameshow...was disappointed!

Thought he was talking about the old MTV game show. I loved that show.

^^^^^ This.

Logitech's parent company has backed them way off from the Harmony remotes but unless you are controlling a stack of gear the 650 should do for you. Very easy to "program". It's just an online setup and then a download to the remote. You can tweak them if you know what you are doing but generally it will do what you want the first time it is setup.
