Is very hard, if not impossible.

Spoilers below

My girlfriend started watching the show middle of last week and I was looking forward to her reaction when Jon Snow was killed. She found out last night while casually browsing twitter :\

Eta if someone spoils the red wedding for her... frick everything

Why browse Twitter if trying to avoid spoilers? It's like going into a bar while trying to stay sober.

Yea either she didn't think it through or she can't stop looking at twitter for the amount of time needed to watch all the shows

Guessing it's the latter

The wife and I are seriously considering not watching this season week-to-week. We want to binge watch in the summer instead. We will probably deactivate our Facebook accounts during that time.

You have to avoid all forms of social media because some people truly can't help themselves. Even posting something like "OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT HAPPENED" is enough of a spoiler for me.

Yeah, and that's what gets me about the fan reaction videos. There'll be a room full of about 10 people who are so diehard GoT fans that they are filming themselves watching it with a large group, and they are all shocked and beside themselves when Jon gets killed. You're telling no one in that group had heard that Jon would be killed? Yeah, right. The smaller group videos maybe, but some of those people are doing podcasts ever week and stuff. There is no way they didn't know Jon would get killed.

You had better lock yourself in you house until then. Hell, I wouldn't even be able to make it past the Monday after the first episode because it's all everyone at work talks about on Mondays.

I didn't have HBO last season so I didn't watch week to week. I prefer binging GoT anyway, so no big deal to me, but it was a bitch trying to avoid spoilers.

Even the mouth-breathing dorks on local sports radio were working Cersei Lanister references into their riffs on MONDAY.

Then you have the assholes who will bring up GoT spoilers on unrelated threads.

Sadly it's not just GoT either. There's been more than one occasion I've hopped on social media on my break at work the next day after the show aired the night before and the show's own network feed is posting spoilers. I know people typically say "avoid social media", but it does become difficult if social media is intertwined with other parts of your life that aren't related to a TV show (as it is for most everyone).

When is a spoiler still a spoiler is an interesting debate in our instant gratification/social media laden age. Even with the widespread use of DVR.

Some of them are probably fake but I think in a lot of cases its book readers secretly filming Hodors. The Red Wedding reactions were great

Yeah, some of the ones where a reader is filming a hodor are probably real. But I'm talking about the ones where there is either a large group of people that record themselves watching every episode, or the ones that not only record themselves watching the episodes, but then actually have podcasts every week after the shows to talk about it.

That's one of the nerdiest things I've read of people doing. They post an hour long video of them watching a TV show? And people watch that shite?

It's been nearly a year. It's fair game at this point IMO. I mean, it's even in the marketing for this season ¯\_(?)_/¯

Just go to Youtube and search for fan reaction to whichever episode. There are quite a few that do one for most, if not all of the episodes.
