VV's wife needs to get naked.

I think you may have hit on the reason for some of the dissatisfaction. Have we seen any hot chick nudity at all so far this season? (Props stuff like posters on the wall and the chick doll floating in the bowl don't count). I mean I know they'd have a hard time matching Daddario, but VV's woman, The girl Kitsch was living with and even McAdams would suit me just fine.

Aside from that, I am really liking the season. I think I've said it in one of the earlier episode threads but it has more of an old school noir feel to me and I've always been a fan of that stuff. I can respect the opinions of people that are not digging it but I was a bit late watching the first couple of episode and I was pleasantly surprised that I liked it a lot better than some of the reactions I saw in the threads.

Regarding the e-cigarette thing: I thought it was kind of funny how both CF and Kitsch both pointed it out. And how CF said it was too much like "sucking a robot's dick" or something. Not sure how that fits in with Kitsch being a repressed gay but it did seem like an interesting parallel.

Oh, here's a question: Did they ever specify what it was that McAdams was into in epi 1 that kind of shocked the guy she was banging?

The actor playing the director was the rug pisser in Big Lebowski

He is only credited on one episode of TD so we don't see him again unless IMDB is being covered up to preserve the plot line of TD

Vince Vaughn has the best storyline, the gay cop bores me, I could give 2 shits who the killer is

Check out Long Good Friday with Bob Hoskins and young Helen Mirren. It's literally the exact plot and one of the most underrated gangster films ever

I really think Kitsch has been super boring thus far but before it's all over will play an extremely vital role. IE that whole black whatever thing that he was a part of I think obviously will tie in.

Of course I could be wrong and my boy Tim Riggins and just dicking the whole role up.

Never saw it but here's the wikipedia page on it. Seem to be some similarities:

Kitsch just gave an interview that dais in episodes 4 and 5 he has some major character beats that will make it very clear to the audience why he is the way he is. He mentioned his family life growing up

Well yea, creepy trailer lady would elude to that.

And as another poster mentioned, I was really hoping that the little Giants dude was going to reveal what McAdams did in the bedroom when she pulled him aside in her office.

That was a big letdown right?

Why do you even care? It's irrelevant to anything in the story and was a lame attempt by the writer to give her a bad girl image and back story

Maybe cuz she has no backstory whatsoever and is basically there so far to be a sex symbol for viewers.

Why not be consistent with her current purpose? It would at least possibly give further proof she may be some kind of sexual deviant or sadist/dominatrix.

I personally think it matters and a lot of others do to.

As people have mentioned in here, S1 was likely so tremendous bc it was this guy's life work that he put years and years into

That's not what happened at all. Pizzolatto basically pitched a couple of different shows, TD being I believe the third idea after the first 2 were turned down. They liked the TD concept, so he went and wrote all 8 episodes in like 3 months. TD S1 was hardly his "life's work".

Thought the e-cig remarks were weird too.

Does anyone else think this may come back around to McAdams and her issues as a child? I can't help but think she is going to be the one pissed at all these men for something her daddy did.

I honestly think this is just a plug to get people to talk about e-cigs.

This is patently false. I've read spec scripts he wrote as far back as 2010. That doesn't include all the time he spent thinking and outlining, which is an inestimable figure.

Maybe it has something to do with the whole Freudian oral fixation.

So far, a very dead Ben Caspere has been the most interesting and compelling character on the show.

I'm pretty confident that people set the bar way to high for this season. If this was Season 1 of True Detective, I think most would enjoy it.

This season has two problems:

1A Farrell, McAdams, and Kitsch want to be McConaughey, but they aren't.

1B Most viewers want Farrell, McAdams, and Kitsch to be McConaughey, but they aren't.

If you can get past that, this season has been good enough. Nothing groundbreaking, but entertaining enough for me on a Sunday evening.
