Who’s ready for 10 more years of Transformers movies? We know that Transformers 5 is on the way with Michael Bay and his team expected to begin production in June 2016 and that Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari were recently recruited to pen the script for an animated feature that’ll serve as an origin story and take place on Cybertron, but Hasbro Studios president Stephen J. Davis just revealed that there’s a whole lot more in the works.

While speaking at MIP Junior in Cannes (via CS), Davis broke down the Transformers film franchise plan:

“Well, you’re gonna see a new Transformers movie coming from Hasbro and Paramount and Michael Bay and our other partners. In fact, we just finished, which some of you may have read, just an incredible experience. We decided that we wanted to plot out the next 10 years of the Transformers franchise and so we got together in a room over a three-month period of time. Nine of some of the most creative writers I have ever worked with, shepherded by Akiva Goldsman, who many of you may know won an Academy Award for A Beautiful Mind and written a bunch of really great movies, and they plotted out the next 10 years of Transformers. Similarly, we’re doing the same in television and in digital. So stay tuned, Transformers 5 is on its way, and 6 and 7 and 8.”

So are they trying to make this, like, a Marvel/DC thing? Who actually goes to the movies to see this stuff anymore?

These are cash cow movies internationally. Bigger than even Marvel films outside of Avengers.

Everyone gets rustled over these Transformers movies but I like them. Haven't seen any in theaters but I have the first three blu rays and have seen all 5. Great "test out the speakers" movies

Transformers (2007): $708,098,205 worldwide box office
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009): 836,519,699 worldwide box office
Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011): $1,123,790,543 worldwide box office
Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014): $1,104,039,076 worldwide box office

Your answer? Well more than enough to keep the franchise going.

As much as I loathe Transformers film franchise (not the IP), Marvel's Hulk(and Iron Man) CGI fights aren't much different.

but as far as the rest of films, MCU is far superior.

My God, Michael Bay is going to end up being the most successful director of all time on this crap.

Have they decided what stupidly ham handed caricature they're going to add next - - how about a Fiat that talks only in 1950s Italian stereotypes, or a Beetle that's a Nazi?

Also- seriously, if we're going Giant Robot movies how on Earth did these outpace Pacific Rim- was it too plot heavy, I mean it wasn't exactly freaking Shakespeare, what was it that made them so successful?

I actually enjoyed the first one but the 3 sequels were horrid. Hopefully they at least have a decent plot moving forward. And I hope they reconsider how they do the fight sequences so I can actually understand what's going on.

I think it will be China over and over and over again.
