This is the movie they filmed parts of during a Longhorn football game like 5 or 6 yrs ago. Portman had just won her oscar and Fassbender was a relatively small star at the time. I remember Spielman and McDounough were calling the game and they both had no idea who he even was.

How Malick gets this kind of leeway on a project is still unbelievable to me. I'm the first to admit the dude is a visual genius, but how in the holy hell can he get the better part of a decade to make a movie?? Who is financing this?? His movies don't make any money either.

P.S. The trailer looks like yet another incoherent mess by Malick, but damn can he make some beautiful shots.

Not sure I could ever sit through another Malick film. 2 hour movie but feels like 4.

The Thin Red Line was great but its been a long time since he did something really good. He wrote an adaptation of Walker Percy's The Moviegoer. I would love to him him tackle that.
