Top Gun 2 might finally be getting the greenlight

The Top Gun producer posted a photo with Maverick himself to Twitter on Tuesday, and teased plans for the highly anticipated sequel.
"Just got back from a weekend in New Orleans to see my old friend @TomCruise and discuss a little Top Gun 2," Bruckheimer captioned.
Rumors about the sequel have been floating around since the original landed in theaters in 1986, but Skydance CEO David Ellison officially confirmed the project is underway back in June, with Cruise expected to star.

With the current political climate, wouldn't be shocked if they dropped the subtleties and went full out gay propaganda with this movie.

Cruise has said he didn't want to do it without Tony Scott. They must have offered him a ton of money. I think The Mummy is his next project so this will have to wait a while.

On a serious note, Using Tom Cruise in Tom Skerritt's old role and one of the past guys as Michael Ironside would be cool. If Val Kilmer lost some weight they'd make a good pair for that role. I'd like to see Skerritt and Ironside both have cameos.
Then fill the rest of the movie with new people. Chris Pratt would be an awesome "new maverick". It actually could work, provided they get the money and use real effects and real jets and real pilots and dont just CGI the entire movie.
Take the approach Star Wars did. Update the movie for the new generation, use the elements that made the old one great, use the essence of the characters while giving them new plots and new personalities.
I'd go see that movie.
On a less serious note:
2. I assume Iceman will be flying a drone via a computer scree?
3. Will Kelly McGillis still play the love interest?
With the bullshite narrative in hollywood she could pull of Maverick's Trangendered lover trying to play in the men's vollyball team with them.

Rumor has it Val Kilmer is very sick. The last time he was spotted out in public he was using a breathing aid. And that was back in December.

Supposedly he was an absolutely awful person when he was going through his run in the 80s and 90s. Like ruined multiple people's careers.

He was definitely very difficult to work with. He actually got into a fist fight with Joel Schumacher on the set of Batman Forever. That's the main reason Kilmer didn't reprise his role in Batman & Robin.
