For those kids born late 80s/early 90s.
CN Toonami - Dragon Ball Z Promos
Nothing got you more pumped as a kid. Maybe except for watching Gary's blastoise lose to Ash's charizard.

nothing used to make me more mad than when i would watch the conclusion of the Freeza story line and be so hype to see all the previews for the cell storyline and then the next day they would start the entire series back to the first storyline

I was always hoping a praying the episode didn't start off with Raditz' spaceship
I was so foolish to believe it wouldn't restart with them not constantly hammering down our throats that the new season was coming

God, that would piss me off. Even more so when they would restart mid-series. I think during the Frieza saga, they restarted 3 times.

amazing how our attention spans used to work. I think Goku spent 4 episodes building up the energy bomb just looking constipated and i watched everyone like the fate of the fricking world depending on it
I somehow never noticed that they spent 10 minutes telling you what happened on the last episode, and 10 minutes what might happen on the next episode, leaving about 5 minutes of actual things happening

This happened multiple times right in the middle of Goku landing on Namek and trashing the Ginyu. Then when they finally played new episodes, the entire cast and music was different.

That is because FunAnimation only dubbed 60 episodes of Dragon Ball Z. So we got a restart right around when Goku fights Racoom. This was the case for about 1yr.

See my comment above.
They didn't believe DBZ would take off liek it had. Plus the original 60 episodes was GOAT. The music and voice actors top of the line.

DBZ Abridged is one of my favorite things in the world.
Man I usually stay away from abridged versions of books and just purchase unabridged. But for DBZ as an adult the abridged version is a must!

Is it bad that I was just out of college and still super pumped for each episode?

Cell saga blew my fricking mind at the time

Didn't it come on at 4:00 or 4:30? I had my vcr set to auto tape every day because I didn't get home until around 5:00 from school.
On the few days I did get home early it was like Manna from heaven to watch it live. I was always so beyond pissed when they kept restarting the series and it was basically pre modern Internet you had no idea what was going on and why they were doing it.
The toonami lineup I remember was incredible.
ReBoot
Dragon Ball Z
Gundam Wing
Ronin Warriors

Yeah 4 was the time slot for central time

I remember watching two episodes of Thundercats before the two episodes of DBZ.

DBZ and Gundam was my shite.
For some reason, I also remember Tenchi Muyo fairly fondly...
Toonami also introduced my child mind to Daft Punk and Gorillaz when they would do those midnight showings of the music videos.
Lord Slug and Cooler's Revenge got my angsty teenage self into Disturbed and Deftones
