Titanic is a Truly Terrible Movie

There are parts that are insanely bad, and even look 3rd rate especially Kate and Dicaprio's "escape" through the flooded staircase. Billy Zane really doesn't help either...
Cameron pre Titanic has one of the best resumes and best runs of any director ever, but Titanic has aged terribly.
I understand why DiCaprio turned down the role of Dirk Diggler, he knew he'd be a superstar after Titanic...but man...Boogie Nights is such a superior movie it's insane.
In fact look at all those Oscar nominees from 97. Only The Full Monty would and should be considered lower than Titanic.

Effects from all movies pre-modern day look like shite when you re-watch them. A ton of people think the original Star wars was revolutionary for its effects, which it was in many aspects, but pales in comparison to modern day effects

Meh, I like it. Also, if you were old enough in 97-98 to remember what a phenomenon that movie was, I still haven't seen anything like it. It holds a special place for me because that movie got me laid a lot back then

The fact he cast Winslet as the main love interest disqualifies it from any consideration of greatness. She is "Maggie in TDK" homely.

The effects were fantastic when it came out.
Having said that. frick Rose. There was more than enough room for her to move her fat arse over and frick her for keeping her family struggling to make ends meet with a multi-million dollar jewel in her thieving pocket.

I was in college when it came out. I saw it twice in the theatre, with 2 different girls. It was a game changer.
