I'm glad to see that guy play the Dr who was awesome. Makes up for me hating him when he screwed over his troops on the "A Team"

Yeah I'm not so sure the twist is a good thing long term. As a pilot, it was awesome, I honestly didn't see it coming and loved it.

But the whole flashback along the timeline thing can get old. Only a few shows like LOST can really make it work without seeming like a gimmick.

Hopefully these guys can keep it going because the pilot really was great. I didn't realize it was the same people that did Crazy Stupid Love. That gives me hope that they know what they're doing

I loved it. I haven't responded so positively to a pilot since Parenthood, which was one of the best tv dramas ever produced in my opinion.

Before you get to excited, the dude who created this also created that new show Pitch on Fox.

Funny you mention Lost. From the creator of This Is Us:

quote:

Creator Dan Fogelman said the pitch for his new NBC series, This Is Us, was that it is “a dramedy version of Lost.” “When we sold the show, we had a whole plan,” Fogelman said of the series, which stars Milo Ventimiglia and Mandy Moore, and features interwoven stories of an extended family at different times of their lives. “You have to understand how everything’s connected and how to explore these people. They’re interconnected; I mean Milo and Mandy’s story line jumps around a lot, and you see there’s different looks we play with. The only way I can describe it is I sometimes think that I have a great-great grandfather out there somewhere whom I’ve never met, nor do I know his name, but in his own way, he’s affecting my own life.”

Nice twist but now that that wad has been shot I don't see how this doesn't turn into the typical odd family dramady that's everywhere right now.

Pilot episode should be up for an Emmy though.

Just watched last night and this is my fear. Looked at my wife who had already seen it and said "that was really well done but where do they go from here?"

I tried watching it last night. Couldn't make it to the first commercial break. Congrats to those who could power through.

Feel the same way about anyone who could actually finish BvS and SS.

This is Us had a surprisingly excellent pilot episode.

I think the flashback thing can be effective as it can show childhood traumas, experiences, etc and the viewer can see how it effects the characters in adulthood. I'm sure they'll explore what caused the girl to overeat. It's not like she comes from a family of fatties so there must be a reason.

Like the show, but does anyone else feel like the fat couple doesn't belong? The sister is a horrible actress and her boyfriend is annoying as shite.

They just don't fit. No way twins would look that different. Thoughts?

2nd episode hasn't been as good, but still some good moments. I like the relationship coming up between the brothers.

And I like Randall's dad. And Randall.

Her boyfriend is meh. I do like how he's trying to get her away from caring how fat she is. The faster that happens, the better.

No shite. Every scene with her is a pity party about how fat she is
