First of all, obviously greatest show of all time. But season 2 is the best of the best. So many great episodes. "Two Catherdrals" , Ainsley Hayes, the theological destruction of Dr. Jenna, Big Block of Cheese Day, Josh being Josh, and the President America really needs Jed mother effing Bartlett.

The beginning few episodes have a cheesy 90s soundtrack but it's gone a few in.

Mandy is terrible in season 1.

Shows just as good now as it was. Maybe better.

I just started watching this for the first time. Don't know why I didn't watch it when on tv, but damn this is a great show. Thank goodness for Netflix.

Why is it such a great show? Seriously, I've heard many praises of it but what exactly is the appeal? Is it funny? Well-written?

I finished the entire series about a month ago, was definitely in my top 10. I have trouble putting into words why I liked it so much, I think its because even though it showed how fricked up and often stupid american politics can be it also showed that it can work and when it does, it can be a beautiful thing. Even though it definitely skewed democratic I did think it did a good job of showing how both sides of the isle have both valid and stupid stances on issues.

I have a deep anxiety about ever getting myself to commit to this show.

I have no doubt it's good but I just really, really, really can't deal with Aaron Sorkin's shite.

Its the best show I've ever watched. Period.
It isn't about the president, or politics at all. It's really about communication and writing.

Really trying to get my wife to watch so I can rewatch. I got her up to 3 or 4 episodes once, but then we got sidetracked. I even told her Mandy isn't around long and doesn't set the tone of the characters. The other day I was reading the Sorkin AMA and I had to rewatch the Season 1 finale/Season 2 premier. That is easily the most intense and emotional couple hours of anything I've ever watched. The only things that come close for me are a few scenes in Good Will Hunting and the big end scene in Perks of Being a Wallflower. Especially for network television, it's brilliant stuff.

its better than two and half men.

It tries so hard to be profound but you cant be profound if you cant tell the entire truth and Sorkins liberal politics makes it impossible for a show about politics to be honest.

The liberals are always sincere, even the bad ones are good people that have suffered so much for the cause. The good Republicans are Moderates and don't really want to be Conservative they just have to be Republican because theyre white and from the South.

Veep is a more honest portrayal of DC the only real commitment to a political philosophy is to the furthering of ones own career .

Veep cracks me the hell up. Two totally different shows. I don't agree with the politics of The West Wing, but I like the show.
