'The Wizard of Lies' movie by HBO about Bernie Madoff

I watched it last night and I'm curious what yall thought about it. It is an HBO movie about Bernie Madoff's Ponzi scheme starring De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer.

I would have liked it a lot better if they included a little more about the scheme itself. If they would have had some flash backs to show us exactly what he did and exactly how he did it. They explained stuff through out, but actually seeing him and Frank Azaria having conversations on how the scheme worked would have been interesting.
A little explanation on how he started Nasdaq and all the other big things he was famous for would have been nice.
Just a little more background of the man himself and what how he became so well known and also how his scheme worked exactly would have made for a more complete story.
having said that, I did like the movie and all the praise will go to DeNiro and Pfieffer (and they were awesome) but the guys that played his sons and also the aforementioned Hank Azaria stole the show for me.

I think using De Niro created a likable Madoff in my opinion. They should have made him out to be more of an evil person. De Niro looks just like Madoff though.

I enjoyed it. I hoped it would've had a little more drama or intensity, but it was not a bad movie. After that party it definitely got better.
The scene with his son, grandson, and the father in law was tough but a big part of the story.

They didn't put enough in about the independent auditor that figured it all out.
That guy went on a crusade over several years and kept dropping overwhelming evidence on the desks of major government officials who refused to look into it. That, by itself, should be a movie.

Maybe just me, but I thought Pfeiffer was hot as hell in this movie for like 70-years-old

It was alright. Like others I would have liked to see more about the actual scheme itself. This movie also kinda made it seem as if he was a good person and only did it because he got in to deep trying to help people. Give me a break

I didn't get that vibe. To me it made him look very cold and unremorseful, either because he really didn't understand the all around damage he caused or because he just didn't want to admit which is likely the case
