We are not big tv watchers, but like to have a tv show going at all times.

Anyway, we really enjoyed fargo, the americans, the wire, sopranos, 6 feet under, battlestar galactica, twin peaks, game of thrones.

We just finished goliath, the night of, the night manager. All of which we thought were ok but not great.

Right now, the ones on our radar (up for other things too) are

The Crown
mr Robot
westworld

We highly value solid production and writing. The wife doesn't like things that are too violent. She stopped dexter, gave up on breaking bad (I KNOW!) and never was interested in justified.

any advice is appreciated.

I just finished The Crown with the wife and it was excellent.

Mr. Robot was good, not great.

Westworld is really coming along but not sure your wife would like it.

Maybe try bloodline. Just 2 seasons so not a tough watch. The first ~4ish eps of season 1 may be a bit slow for your tastes, but once it gets going it doesn't stop (going through the end of S2) IMO.

There may be a small bit of violence but nothing more than the other shows you mentioned. Really nice scenery too.

she LOVES sci fi, so maybe. She heard there is violence against women, that deters it from being our top choice.

she is ok with a bit of violence, but prefers the cartoon variety.

we found it to be exceptionally boring. watched first two seasons.

I enjoyed The Last Kingdom but there's only 1 season (8 episodes).

Last Kingdom is great but has some violence.

I like the Tudors.

Was not listed in OP.

But everything he mentioned looking for WAS MadMen.

I am a total Mad Men fanboy so I am biased. But OP, you are doing yourself a disservice not giving it a sniff.

Start This Is Us. You've only got half a dozen episodes to catch up on, and you'll likely be hooked after the pilot.

Not trying to be a dick or anything, but how does she/both of you experience the greatness of television is violence is such a huge no-no?

Like I'm assuming GoT and many other HBO shows are a no go, you're missing out on so much good shite.

Also, Westworld has violence but 99% of it is violence on what are essentially robots. If it's played by an actress/actor, but is a robot in the story is that a dealbreaker? I mean where is the line drawn?

the Time in-between

its just one season. its a serialization of a novel set in the era and locale of the Spanish civil war and early in WW II.

spy stuff. Morocco. Germans. Portugal.

all from the point of view of a young naive Spanish woman.

subtitles in English. Netflix
