SIAP I didn't see anything in search.

quote:

AMC have announced they are in the initial stages of development on what they're calling a "companion" series to The Walking Dead. Walking Dead's Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert are executive producing with the series, aimed to debut in 2015. While The Walking Dead has taken Kirkman's comic book as its inspiration, using most of the same characters (albeit often then veering in its own directions), the new series will be about a different group of survivors. It remains to be seen if we'll meet any of the new characters first on The Walking Dead or if the show will take place in such an entirely different area of the world, that wouldn't be possible.

Forgive me for being skeptical, but AMC is going to run two shows about the exact same thing?

Same universe. Different characters and I assume different location.

Remember when NBC announced the Heroes spin off that was going to be about other characters in the same universe?

This will probably have as many episodes as that show did.

Hopefully they won't waste an entire season searching for a little girl.

How many more years of Mad Men do they have? They sound like they're out of ideas.

They need to fix Walking Dead first. Show has way too many problems as is.

With two series going at the same time, how will they find enough showrunners to fire?

I think only one more.

AMC had an amazing hit rate for a while but recently it hasn't been as good.

I love walking dead a lot, but it isn't breaking bad good. Although nothing really is.

Low Winter Son isn't great. I like Hell on Wheels, but it isn't incredible or anything. I love the last season of the killing. They rebounded after they pissed the viewers off at the end of season one. But they cancelled it.

So weve got a show about Disneyworld, and a show about Disneyland. Both shows are still about the Mouse.

I can't see this improving the quality of the parent in any way. If anything, its going to get people burnt out on Zombies.

10+ million views/episode will get you plenty of milked out story lines and spinoff opportunities

I couldn't disagree more. The show is as much about the backgrounds/storylines of the individual characters as it is about killing zombies. I would love to see the Walking Dead done from say the perspective of the Governor. Maybe that is what this other show will do? Follow another set of survivors that end up as allies with someone like the governor. I think it could be very entertaining. Not to mention that they could do something in another area of the country and all that new environment may entail.

I hope it's completely unrelated to TWD. I want to see different people on the other side of the country. I think it would be cool to see the majority of the new series in a major city like New York. In the pilot or the second episode when Rick is in Atlanta was one of the best sequences in the whole series. It felt more dangerous and claustrophobic than the rural settings they have been in since.

The only way this works is if they address things they don't seem to want to address in WD. The cause/the cure/the politics/etc. Or at the very least stop all this mom and pop level survivalism. They at least need a Barter Town level organized town, and you'd have to think some seriously armed military units are still running around.

This could be awesome if they do it right.

Also, hopefully there is no source material for this one so idiots on here won't be proud of "knowing shite."
