I don't think that was his plan. I think he let the zombies in to attack/distract Rick and company, and then he sets off the alarms to lure them to the generator room so he could attack them in close quarters.
More revenge than taking the prison for himself IMO.

Also, as I've said regarding the prisoners before, they aren't in prison because they're smart. It may have been his plan to take over the prison by flooding it with zombies.
I was more skeptical of his newfound hunting skills and sudden knowledge of how to deal with walkers considering he'd been locked up for who knows how long.

yes, but she wants to be with the leader of the pack. first shane (was leader then tried to replace rick). now the governor. saddle up with the dominant male and get protection- be the first lady and all.

I am waiting for Merle to turn on the Governor. The whole thing with him wanting to go find his brother and the Gov not wanting him to go. Dude is a serious control freak and that will be his downfall.

I agree with your take, CCM, but was asking the same question...
I thought he was just leading them into Rick's cell block only, then the whole alarm thing shot that theory to hell...he knew Rick and co were armed to begin with so the close quarters thing I'm not so sure about. I think he was just hiding out there, realizing he'd painted himself into a corner-unless he had already been bitten, and was on borrowed time anyway....
Actually the whole 'he survived and seeks revenge' was kinda silly - suddenly he can hunt deer and work the Walkers like a pro, etc - but the writers had to find a way to kill Lori in a semi-secure environment. Forgivable, absolutely.
And "DING-DONG the Witch is DEAD...la la la-dee la la..."
So...is Carl so permanently damaged now he's basically just a time bomb ticking?
So far, S3 is avoiding the nip/tuck and True Blood 'Junior year Curse' like a boss...

You could definitely see the 'cult leader' tactics on display there. "This whole place would fall apart without you here." He doesn't want him to find his brother because then he's not a loner with a maliable brain that can shaped how the Governor wants.
Governor only wants the gullible and vulnerable. Michonne needs to stop raising suspicions and Andrea needs to quit being so damned stupid.

This.
I saw it as he was just trying to get walkers inside the gates to cause havoc among the group. The only reason I think it was revenge was because he was basically lying in wait armed with an axe and trying to sneak Rick. Well, another reason is because of his attitude and reaction when U-Dawg got the gun in his hand...he was all like "Shoot him, let's do this.." Seemed like revenge to me.

They've introduced a lot of new characters this season. And we'll probably meet a few more in Woodbury over the course of the season. I wonder when the next culling is going to take place.
It's pretty obvious that the show runners are not afraid to lose anyone (save for maybe Rick). So that makes it interesting when you start to try to figure out who is next.
