The Ho Chi Minh friendly relationship with the Americans is very interesting.

Ho and FDR were tight.
If the USA would have told the French to frick off after WWII, there is a decent chance there would have been a pro-American communist government in Vietnam.
Unfortunately, China falling to Mao and the Soviets getting nukes blew that out of the water.

The one American guy kinda nailed it when he said that the US incorrectly saw what happened in Vietnam with the war with the French as some sort of falling domino in the Cold War instead of the correct view of simply the fall of colonialism in Southeast Asia.

Hard to argue against the falling domino thought in Vietnam, when Mao is invading Korea at the same time after endorsing HoChi.

2nd guy from Louisiana they've interviewed in a row. Been amazing so far
It's not hard to understand why the Cold War politicians were freaking out about Vietnam falling to communists. Now it's like, "who cares", but they were in a different mindset back then.
Us paying for the French war is inexcusable. More likely they were only fighting because we were footing the bill.

More agenda-based slanted history garbage from Ken Burns? No thanks. Would rather watch a documentary on the history of paper clips

That's horse crap. Despite his left leaning politics his documentaries are pretty straight forward.

Sports Guy.....evidently you have no clue regarding the history of Vietnam. Your comment is so far off base, and foolish
Maybe your brain can only comprehend watching paper clips
This is a typical Well written Ken Burns documentary
