"It" for me, remember Harry from night court and this movie gave me nightmares for awhile.
Also reaffirmed my hatred for clowns.

Had to be The Shining when Scatman Crothers got the ax..... It didn't scare me on TV that much

Parts of Pet Sematary still manage to freak me out.

Good one Brosef, I would add when it came out the brother in Salem's Lot floating at the window was pretty creepy

The Shining freaked me out the most but It definitely had its moments as well.

The shining or per sematary. I watched pet sematary for the first time when I was about 5.

Pet Semetary no question.
I watched it with my cousin and some of her friends in gerorgia. We were in a house in the woods in a room made of windows in the middle of the night. After the movie this dog was barking in the distance and it still freaks me out to this day.
shite that movie is so well done parts of it still get me to this day. It's probably the King movie that's held up the best.
It has aged horribly. As has Carrie. The shining is more of a suspense movie than a horror movie.
The stand was and still is a shite abortion of a movie.
Misery is still solid, but again more suspense thriller than horror.

It, and it isn't close. Watching now though and not scary at all. I hope the remake is bad arse.

The kid getting hit by the truck in Pet Sematary was painful to watch.

Easily. The whole atmosphere of that movie is creepy as hell, even today.

You and me both. I hope they make it right. It needs two movies. It needs them as kids and them as adults and it needs to be r rated and brutal.

PS is a shining example of perfect horror. It has character development and suspense and gore and thrill and it toes that line of eerie suspense of reality perfectly without ever breaking it.
That movie somehow just keeps your mind on edge the entire time without giving you a break. Once it's over you have to readjust to reality. It's like a Damm religious experience.

I just changed my vote to Salems Lot, I forgot about th scene with the vampire at the window

I can't put Salems first. It is my absolute favorite king book. I read it as a kid and when I finished there were literally finger prints imprinted into the sides of the book.
Without knowing it, I had been gripping the book so tightly for the last 100 or so pages i had left my fist prints. My mom said she was calling my name from the doorway and I didn't even look up. I was just entranced. King is notorious for his problems with ending books, Salems Lot didn't have that problem. The climax of that book from the scene with the priest to the knife trap in the basement to the final scene is just awesome.
The movie was scary, but the book was so good I couldn't appreciate it.

All good ones have been listed. One not listed that scared me as a kid was "sometimes they come back"

IT sucked if you read the book.
Pet Cemetary and The Shinning for me.
