I'm sorry, and I may be in the minority, but besides "Giant" I thought everything he did was horseshite. Cultural Icon, sure...artist, not so much...

Bear in mind that in this scene, after the father says "That's something I could value" (at the 3:20 mark), all Dean was supposed to do, according to the script, was leave the money on the table and quietly walk out.
EVERYTHING Dean does after that point was improvised.

I watched and I can understand the appeal of the emoting, he's just so over-the-top with everything. It's not like Friedberg/Seltzer movies, I don't think anyone is wrong for liking him. He's just not my cup of tea.
