enjoy the series, amazed how owners do such things as mingle business expenses and household expenses - using the same cc for both, not being honest with Marcus and Marcus discovers this on various financial statements. I would like to see how various business's are doing after 6 months or a year under Marcus's tenure.

One of the best shows on TV

I'd also like a follow up with some of the businesses.

I think the plan is to follow up as time goes on. The show is only a year old at most I think.

Love this show. Marcus is great and it is easy to see why he is so successful.

Much like bar rescue a lot of the stuff he suggest is common sense business things.

Not to compare Marcus to Tafford, Marcus does a more than just the common sense stuff a lot.

I love this show. Marcus doesn't take shite and tells it like it is. A lot of what happens seems kinda fake and scripted, but I can get past that because I do enjoy the business aspect of it.

There must be some serious contingencies on the deals though. A few episodes have gone through remodels and Marcus bought thousands of dollars in equipment, and then a month later the deal falls through because of some financial discrepancies.

Yeah I imagine CNBC picks up the tab for some of that.

I just found this show. Binge watching the second season.

One of the better "reality" shows that I've come across in years.

A lot of business owners do not have the discipline to do the small things everyday that it takes to be successful. Most of the people that call him in seem to have good ideas and are targeting the wrong market or executing operational tasks poorly.

Just watched the BBQ episode with Ewell Smith from the New Orleans. Man did he come off looking bad.

The show sounds interesting, but if it's similar to fake arse Bar Rescue, I'll pass.

I think it is better. Bar Rescue is too focused on Tafford yelling and screaming at the owners.

However, it is obvious that every reality show has a scripted element to it.

Another good one on CNBC is Restaurant Startup.

I'm sure that it's got its share of scripting, as all "reality" shows do. The fact that he walks out on some of these deals instead of staying for the drama makes me think that they try to keep it closer to reality than most shows.

But when they come across side characters like Ewell or the new guy at the wine shop, they'll focus on them for a scene or two to amp up the entertainment value.

Basically yes. He does any type of company, from house cleaning supplies to candy manufacturer.

The premise is that the companies call him for help/partnership, he arrives and does a quick assessment, makes a handshake deal and writes out a check after his assessment.

Since he hasn't done due diligence prior the handshake/check, the drama comes in when he finds out how honest these folks have been with him. Most are hiding something, some are blatantly lying to him. He'll walk away from deals and he'll sue if they doublecross him.

He has a ton of business sense and experience (or his staff does) and usually the people that he is helping are struggling with the basics.

The cupcake company episode was good. I have a feeling that he'll revisit them next season and we'll see that the husband has screwed up the shop and the wife is beating him on a regular basis.
