Just nostalgia based. They are horrible.

My 11 year old wanted to watch the Thanksgiving one.

Charles Schultz was a crook. It all sucks.

Agreed!!! Other things that suck: blowjobs, medium rare ribeye, children's laughter, and joy.

Eat shite.

Thoroughly depressing.

Why didn't we get a Calvin and Hobbes Christmas movie?

Was Calvin Jewish?

Calvin's creator was very anti-merchandise. I think there was a documentary that stated any Calvin and Hobbes stuff you see is a fake.

I'm with you. We watched them as kids, but only because there were only. 3 channels and we would watch any cartoon over Barnaby Jones or such.

The Christmas one is decent, but I never gave a damn about the Great Pumpkin or others.

He's thrown away a lot of $. I remember reading in the 90s that The Simpsons was selling $1M worth of stuff a week

So Calvin peeing on the Chevrolet logo isn't authentic and canon?

Sorry you don't like good wholesome classic American television. Maybe theres a Hitler's Christmas special that's more your speed.

This.

The christmas show is one of the better holiday shows in American history, and it touched on a vast array of issues - namely the commercialization and secularism of Christmas - in the early 60s when it was risky to do so. Hell, it even touches on holiday depression before it became a thing.

A few years ago I read a backstory of the show, its genesis and how it came together. Schultz had a message he wanted to get out and was apparently told no several times. Throughout production, pretty much everyone involved thought it was going to be a disaster, and CBS executives hated it when they saw the first cut. When the producer saw an early screening of it, he basically said "we've killed Charlie Brown."

I loved Calvin and Hobbs as a kid, and it still cracks me up. The snowman scenes from winter were amazing.

You would have fit in well with the pinky leftist tv executives who hated the Christmas special. But over 50 years later and they're all dead and the show plays on. Just like in 50 more years when you'll be dead and your daughter will be showing it to her kids. Happy Holidays commie!!!
