Beerus is awesome. I wonder how strong the caveman dude really is?

question about Super. Are the first several episodes just the last two movies?

I've only seen up to episode 8 iirc. Pretty sure they move quickly past the events of Battle of Gods.

Yes, but they change things in the show a bit. For example, in the movie Goku pushes Beerus to, uh, 90% of his power....I think? In the show Beerus far outweighs he and Vegeta. He is magnitudes stronger than they are. This changes the events slightly, same basic idea though. Then there is a small training arc where Goku and Vegeta are being trained by Whistler. Then Frieza shows up again. After that, it moves on to new material.

Frieza arc ends around episode 29 or 30 if I remember correctly.

Do you ever stop and think that without Yajirobe there never would've been a Dragon Ball Z in the first place? Vegeta would be killed everyone and destroyed the planet if not for Yajirobe

Well, without Korin it's the same thing. How many times have the magical plot device known as sensu beans saved their asses?

Korin also contributes a lot in here, so there's that too.

So are the movies non-canon then?

Nope. My understanding is the super Manga is not as well.

Have you bought those Funko Pops yet? I wish the DB Goku one was just him without the Kinto'un.

Things are different from the show, and Toriyama is only officially involved with the show. It's only canon if he is involved with the project.

Unless he says it isn't...

No. I want to, but I've already spent way too much money on Dragon Ball collectibles

I know if I buy one, I'll Frick around and buy them all.

If it has Toriyama's name w/ it, it's canon to me.

The anime was created before Super's manga, but Toriyama still had input in the manga.

Speaking about canon w/ this show is annoying though.

Previously it was the manga that held what was and wasn't canon and DBZ had a frick ton of filler due to this. So if you think the manga is canon, then DBZ Kai is actually the only true 'canonized' way to watch the series since it was cut to follow the manga as closely as possible. Toriyama had nothing to do with the filler episodes of DBZ and they're as much canon as GT is essentially.

I mean an entire saga in DBZ was filler.

That still holds true. Just reversed now, mostly.

There some filler that isn't canon on the show like in DBZ. Such as that weird 3 episode arc where Vegeta got copied and was going to disappear forever if his clone wasn't defeated.

Well of Toriyama came up with that does it not make it canon? As far as I'm concerned anything he creates is canon

Just watched the first two episodes of Super on Toonami.

1. It's awesome to hear those guys voicing the characters again

2. Farmer Goku is hilarious

3. Trunks is every bit as badass as his dad and Goten is as much of a puss as Gohan. I really enjoy how they keep those family lines intact

4. Vegeta is still hands down the best character. His pure anger at the dead octopus was hilarious.

i dont know. i think it would be interesting to see Vegeta train Goten or Goku train Trunks. Just to see the dynamic and reversal play out.

But it is fun how close they are and always fight together instead of in opposition.

If Vegeta trained Goten he'd be the most powerful being in the universe so we can't have that

Definitely. Trunks just has that edge from his dad that Goten and Gohan don't have. In the episode where they are running from the snake Goten gets scared and almost eaten. Trunks beats the shite out of the snake with 0 fear. He's calm and collected under pressure.
