Maybe once Goku and Vegeta unlocked it they were able to teach it to the younger ones? I would think it would be harder for an adult to learn than a child not knowing from the start.

Goku had to teach Gohan, but didn't Goten just show up one day and everybody was surprised he could do it?
ETA - I don't know, I just always assumed that at the level Goku was at when he got Chichi pregnant, he had Super Powered Super Saiyajin Sperm so it just happened easier for Goten

Next question up(I haven't watched since I was a kid and it was on CartoonNetwork after school):
Who is to say that Goku and the others have reached the ultimate super saiyan level? No one thought SSJ2 was possible before Goku had done it.
In addition, what ever happened to the Kai's? I thought they were supposed to be pretty powerful themselves.

I don't know if you have kept up with it, but they recently came out with a new movie. It's called Battle of the Gods, and Goku goes Super Saiyan God in it.

They're around. I think the Supreme Kais are somewhere a lot stronger than Frieza but maybe a bit weaker than SSJ2. They aren't shite compared to Mystic Gohan or Vegito.

I haven't kept up with anything past the Cell Saga. I stopped watching after Gohan defeated cell. From time to time I watch an episode on the CW on Saturdays, but those are ones that I've seen already.So what is the hierarchy of super saiyans? I know you can go from SSJ, SSJ2, and SSJ3. 3 was the highest that I ever recall anyone going.
As far as the Supreme Kai's, would they be equal to a Cell or not even that strong? An since the supreme kais are no match of a SSJ2's would Goku and the others take over the afterworld upon their death.

Those live action trailers are fricking phenomenal. I've watched everyone about a billion times. Why can't they just remake the fricking show like that. If HBO bought the rights and made each saga a season I'd sacrifice my first born.

I think there is one in between 1 and 2, but it's just a more buffed up version of 1. Trunks went there before Cell got his perfect form. But yes, I think 3 is the highest in the show.

Golden Great Ape appears in one of Vegeta's flashbacks on Namek. I can't remember if that was in the manga or not though.

I'm on there right now. Appears in Dragon Ball GT and Vegeta's flashback on Namek in the Dragon Ball Z anime.

I know what you're talking about. It was on Namek. It was when Vegeta was talking about the Super Saiyan of legend only being able to maintain the SSJ transformation while in great ape form.
I think that how it is pictured it isn't clear that the ape is actually golden or if it's just the shading. It isn't until later when we see what the SSJ transformation looks like that we can actually jump to that conclusion.

well his flashback was still wrong because it was what he thought a super saiyan was.
